Picture of the Day - Chatter Thread

FortWildernessHammockChamp.jpg

Winner of the Iron Duck Hammockathon.

Donald will never stand still when I get my camera out. Neat picture!

That rabbit was like no other I have ever seen at FW! The rabbit was so friendly. It came right up to my kids. There was a golf cart that stopped in the street to look at it and it hopped right up to the golf cart and put it's front paws up on the cart!

it is a re-incarnated FW addict.:lmao:

I just got a major rush of adrenaline looking at that pic! I sometimes get nervous wondering if we'll be disappointed after having stayed at VWL, but looking at that picture, thinking about standing at that boat dock trying to keep the kids calm before heading to the parks on the first day, wow. VWL had a bus to MK that was always empty, always there, and always fast, so we'd walk out of our room, go down the elevator, out the door and we were at MK in minutes. We only took the boat once. But I think I like the idea of taking that boat, taking a little more time to relax and enjoy the ride, and letting the anticipation build up a bit more before getting to MK.

I need to look and see if I can find that dime I threw perfectly a few years ago when the ferry was taking off from the Ticket and Transportation Center. I nailed it right on one of the beams that was about 20 feet away, and some of the few coins that were on there looked like they had been there a long time. Must remember to check that....

I periodically "retrieve" the coins people throw in - helps me pay for my trip. Just have to watch out for the gators and "otters" that live in the waters at WDW.

I remember that dime - nice shot. It went towards a Mickey bar at MK.

If you were there on this day, you might have thrown a Sacagawea Gold Dollar for the rarity of seeing the Irvine pull up at the FW Marina.

Yea, I had posted that in my original response, I don't know what happened. I can't remember the last time I saw the Ferry pull up to the FW Marina, I mean, I'm talking probably early 90's was maybe the last time.

You truly did see one of the rarest sites in the Fort, that really is a great picture. I remember seeing it as a kid, but never in recent memory.

Wow, I am so new to FW, I didn't realize that was a rare event.

I love that picture, I realize now we should have moved; it was a transportation CM in training and I'm guessing they were there so if something went wrong there would be less casualties. "Cool, kids, look how fast that ferry's coming toward us!" (What is it, 2 1/2 knots?).

(Are the boat cptns in transportation?)

Okay.... I'm a "Front Porch" kinda girl, and have been for years. I've never seen this, and I was just at the Fort a few days ago.

What's behind the "take out window"? Is it the bar at Crockett's Tavern? If so, this is definitely something new.

:drinking1 :drinking1 I noticed the window when we were there in October. It opens up to the Bar!!

I'm glad you took that pic of the group camping area. We go by there each year and forgot this weekend. They were already packed and gone when we went by. I was told that's an annual thing they do and have been for many years. As much as you and Gatordad spend at the fort why own a house lol. I guess a few will say the same about me.
