I think it's much better.

Do you ever get tired of Castle Pictures? I don't! :) Was going for the full reflection!

Huh! Guess us 'regulars' all jumped on that bandwagon! I did the Animation class in the morning, and the Architecture Tour in the afternoon. It was GREAT! Like the new Wild Africa Trek, nice to really do something at WDW! Interesting bit about the watch!

I just noticed and commented on FB, that the outside of the tower is a sun dial too! (As seen in my POTD today)

In any case, as a lover of building, nice to see something so 'out of the box'!

:)

I miss the Institute... it was a few months between visits and I took several of the culinary classes... one time I was walking in with my mom and the chef said "welcome back"... I was amazed he remembered me:thumbsup2

From the best of my knowledge.. it IS the world's largest sundial. It is open in the center, has river rocks (for peace and tranquility) and has stepping stones going around that has sayings about time from everyone including Albert Einstein and Donald Duck...

It was really cool to see. I don't think you can get in to see it now...unless it's part of a tour or something. It was cool...

It was also cool to see the inside of the Castmember's building.

In honour of the Royal Wedding... a pic of UK in EP :goodvibes

BandBob: nice castle reflection!
Carol: I too was planning to post a Royal Wedding type picture today. :goodvibes So here is mine. (I heard the Queen Mother gave her blessing only a few days ago - Not that she looks like the Queen of Hearts)

I park at the Contemp on many visits (makes it a LOT easier with my scooter) and last time, the guard said "Welcome Jud." :)

I forgot all that! I hardly even took many pics! I do have one or two from the animation class- which was awesome!

I don't like the Exterior of the CM building, but the inside had some neat effects.

Don't know. I didn't realize it was a unique angle. Does the boat make a turn into this scene and I shot from that turn maybe? I can't recall.

I would hazard a guess- cause I considered it when the question was posed- that you were a bit past the fellow and looking back?

:)

I took the same tour!!!

and when you look at it from the air... it looks like a watch!!! :thumbsup2

(borrowed from Jack Spence...)

Me too!! That makes five of us at least.

I did the tour (called I think, Architecture of Disney) when I was on a cookery course at the Disney Institute. (This was before Food & Wine started at Epcot). We visited the Casting Centre by Robert A M Stern, Team Disney by Arata Isosaki (the biggest sundial in the world when completed - now several larger ones built), Swan & Dolphin by Michael Graves and Wilderness Lodge by Peter Dominick. (Animal Kingdom Lodge, also by Peter Dominic was yet to be built) Sadly, I did not have a camera with me that day, though you can find photos through Google.

More impressive even than the outside view, is the inside view of the sundial drum which drops right down through the inside of the building as a courtyard and is also marked out with sundial lines. There is no truth in the rumor that the building is lifted on hydraulic jacks and rotated five degrees in spring and fall to compensate for clocks changing.

As I understand it Michael Eisner (remember him?) was very keen on promoting architecture. Buildings designed by other significant architects were build at other Disney sites around the world.

Hey goofyernmost  Hope your move went well! :goodvibes Good to see you found the new thread, Nice pic from AK :thumbsup2

Why thank you for remembering about my big move. I am settling in to my new place and I can tell you that I better like it because I am not doing this "move" stuff again for quite a while. My next goal is to get all set here and then make a pilgrimage to WDW in the fall.

Funny, thats what I tell my relatives every time they question my going to WDW "again" :rotfl:

As you can see by my ticker.....I'm heading there in Sept :woohoo: (27th trip!)
