Do any of you wonderful helpful people have a recent picture of a Fantasmic reserved seating dessert box? I would love to see what they are looking like these days. On another thread it mentioned that they are now including cheese and fruit to counteract some of the sweetness. Others contend it's not worth it for $59.

I found a picture from last summer http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=19787529
But it would be good to know what is more current.

I'm going in 10 days, if nobody has one I will try to remember to take one myself and post it.

Thank you!

I will for sure take a picture when I go on the 30th for the Electrical Parade thingie again. What was pictured in the other thread was what our box looked like last November for Fantasmic. (and again--not worth it IMHO). The box we had at Electrical Pardade was octagonal, black plastic, with a clear lid. It was bigger than the cardboard box and had the other items mentioned. Less "desserts" than in the old Fantasmic box.

Great question, avalon451! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the link too. :)

I would love to know what's included in the treat box as I hope to be able to get ressies for our May trip, however Fantasmic! is only showing on one night during our trip. :scared:

This from the second week end in November last year - sorry, the closer one is blurry:

The cup next to it is hot chocolate. Delicious. :goodvibes
They also offered tea, coffee, bottled water and different sodas (Coke and such). The cast member went through three times asking about drinks.

I've never done it...nor would I. I think it looks like a waste of money to be honest. The seats are nothing spectactular. Last week we were right by the "special seating"...within feet and our view was just as good. If you bought those treats on mainstreet would it add up to $60?
I dunno, I just don't see the incentive except that you get a chair.:confused3

Well, yes, I thought it was too pricey, too, really. I'm not crazy, though-- I do have some reasons! :rotfl: I guess what induced me to get the reserved seating were several things: 1. In guidebooks and on several different discussion boards, I kept seeing information about "beating the crowds" and "having a plan" to see Fantasmic without losing your marbles. Stake out your spot 2-3 hours early... especially important if you have little ones because they're likely to miss the action on the ground if you are standing in a crowd. Wait for the second show at 10:30, hanging out in Critter country and moving in after the first show crowd leaves. (like my 5 year old would last until 11 p.m.!) Especially during high season (and we will be there the week after Easter, so it's expected to be packed) it's apparently a nightmare to try to get in and get decent viewing.

2. We have never been to Disneyland before, or any Disney property... any of us, including my DH 47 or myself, 43. Our daughters (12, 10 and 5) have been begging for 4 years. We are not likely to go again any time soon, for various reasons. So this is a very special and isolated event for us.

3. I've read so many good things about the view from there. I don't care so much about the desserts, that's just icing, but what I'm really paying for is to be able to show up 20 minutes before Fantasmic, have a CM fetch me drinks, and sit and rest my feet after a long day and have a great view of the 9 p.m. show... turn around and watch the fireworks without moving (albeit not from the ideal hub view of the castle)... and get back to the hotel (we're staying at GCH) around 10 p.m. so my tired-out kiddos can rest up for the next day of fun.

4. I'm paying for this myself (as opposed to the family credit card account for the rest of the trip) out of my own little "splurge money" account that I get for doing part-time work for my church. It's a surprise; my family don't know I paid for it myself, I will spring it on them that evening. I get such a grin out of doing this with my own cash!

So normally I'd never consider paying $60 for good seats and cookies, especially out of our family living expenses. But this is pretty special.:thumbsup2 I'm looking forward to it.

First off,   for that first sentence I quoted!

And I wanted to let you know that i've read you have to check in around 7, I believe, for either of the seatings. One person can go, holding all the family's tickets, but still, one person does have to do that. And then later, what you wrote seems to be correct. :)

Thanks, Bumbershoot! I always look for your posts because we're from the same general neck of the woods :)

Yep, I know about the checking in early-- we've got BB ressies for an early dinner, and then the plan is to hang out/use up FPs in the park. Mom is going to "go shopping" while Dad takes the girls on a few of their favorites... I'll go stand in line at 6:30 to check in and choose good seats.

Is there a way to get this dessert without having the reservations or does the dessert come with the reservations? Thanks!!

You only have to check in, pick your seats, then show back up at show time. It was great for us too and a special treat for the kids and I who had never been to DL until last year. I try to do something special and unique we normally wouldn't do and that is what I like to spend my money on. When we go on vacation it is our time to enjoy and have the best time we can. I am hoping to do the Electric parade this year with the treats for something else fun. I have no desire to set up an hour before a show and just sit there. My kids would nto be impressed with that. Last year those people were so close to each other almost sitting on each other. Sorry I like my space. Even at WDW, I stand at the odd places to view the fireworks etc... I don't like to be crowded. I hope you all enjoy yourselves its your money spend away!

actually guys...I would plan on being around the area at about 5...I have done both balcony and riverside and when I did riverside last year I was all prepared to be there before 6:30 to make sure I could pick my seat right up front...well it just so happened that we were close to the area and it was about 5:45 and I decided to just go over there and wait till someone came over the the platform and found they were already there:scared1: a family had already picked out half of the front row so lucky for me I went when I did else I would have had to sit in a different row...and Im short so it makes it hard for me to see over peoples heads...and dont ya know that I never sit behind a kid its always an adult and usually male at that who decides to sit right in front of me :rolleyes2: so the jist is, if you want front row seats just be over in that area by 5 or 5:30 at the latest...i know your dealing with odds here because they may not show up till 6:30 or 7 but at least you will be first to pick your own seats kwim?

Yep, definitely a splurge. However, the benefit is not JUST a chair to sit in. Honestly, the crowd that has been there for every viewing of Fantasmic! that I have seen has been horrendous! Like a parade, but 20x worse. We do not splurge on a lot of souvenirs, alcohol, etc, but we like to splurge here because it keeps us out of the craziness. Yes, it is crazy as people are leaving but we find if we wait a few minutes and enjoy our drinks a bit longer, we miss most of the awful crowd.

We did the early check in as well. We just happened to walk by as they were setting up and asked when we should check in and they let us do it then. We did some walking around and came back in time to be seated. As a side note: when they had the balcony seating it was preassigned, so there was no benefit to checking in early to get your seat.

But this is pretty special.:thumbsup2 I'm looking forward to it.

:thumbsup2 Lots of great reasons! ESPECIALLY if you're catcing the first fantasmic with little ones. We caught the second showing last friday night and walked right up to our spot behind the seating right after the first show. Barely saw the fireworks but that's ok we saw them the year prior. I can only imagine how bad the crowds are for the first showing. Hope you guys have a great time!!!!

We did Fantasmic in 2005 (seems like FOREVER ago :( ) and had reserved seats on the river. We didnt get there early and didnt get "the BEST" seats, but it was better than nothing!!! And I would do it again in a HEART BEAT!

Are the boxes something new? We didnt have boxes, we had little plates (I think) and it was buffet style, so WELL worth the money cause the kids ate LOTS of junk and took some to go...

How does one reserve the seats? Can you do this in advance of your trip or do you have to wait until you are at DL? Also, is it $59 pp?

No advance reservation I'm afraid.

You register the night of the performance your tickets are booked for. Officially registration starts at 7 PM (I think), but usually people start getting in line earlier.

Do you get to keep the cup/thermos?

I shouldn't post when my eyes are watering because of allergies.
I'm so sorry. That's not my cup of hot chocolate, that is my popcorn bucket. :lmao:

everything i have read says you can call 30 days in advance and make reservations. i cannot seem to find any comprehensive (and current) info on this anywhere though. some sites still refer to it as a "buffet" and some show different prices. some indicate that you have to call EXACTLY 30 days in advance.

does anyone have a picture of the seating area? or is there a site with pics of it? im trying to decide if its worth it for us. i dont want to stand around waiting and im sure my kids dont either. they are too young for that. so seating is the only way we can see the show.

so how does this work, then?? you make your reservations, then show up early and choose your seats, then you can go walk around? does someone have to stay in the seats to hold them?

thank you! the search feature isnt working for me and im overwhelmed at the thought of wading through every thread at the moment :).
