I am sure everyone is passionate about what the next Disney them park should look like. I would love to see something based on comic strips that are enjoyed. Family Circus, Marmaduke, Andy Capp, Heathcliff, Riff Raff, Boof Poof, Peanuts featuring Charlie Brown, Ziggy, Kathy, Doonesbury and especially L'il Abner.

Disney has had some amazing fiscal quarters lately, so the cash is there to buy up these intellectual properties. The comic strips by nature evolve in time, so you would be able update them seamless in the park as time goes on, unlike certain characters that are "preserved in amber." Whenever they do a modern take on Cinderella for instance, it feels forced and startling. No such issue with Marmaduke.

Kids love pets, so Heathcliff and Marmaduke would be so cool.

I don't expect everyone to be on board. We all have our our dream park. The DisUnplugged just did a show on this!! Would would YOUR dreampark look like????

These characters are all at Universal's Island of Adventure. They are probably on the way out though.

Islands of Adventure has a comics inspired "land". I would imagine obtaining the rights to all these properties would be a nightmare.

i didnt know that. thanks. i feel pretty stupid. i think disney could turn them into something extraordinary.

i havent been to universal, are they doing anything interesting with the characters or maybe people just dont like comic strips anymore? i might be out to lunch on this altogether

The Disbosrds has a Universal forum. You can check out what's being discussed there. Also, Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure has a fairly decent website with descriptions of all of their attractions.

Newspapers are basically dead in many parts of the country, so the comic strips that were a mainstay of that medium are no longer main stream.

besides Peanuts and Charlie Brown most of those characters would be unknown to overseas guests at the park.

You should go see it at Islands of Adventure next time you are there. It's pretty neat. :)
