Hello Everyone! I am considering having a Wishes Dessert Party. If I understand correctly it is NOT in the theme park? For anyone who had a Wishes Dessert Party, can you share pictures of your event? What made you choose it over Illuminations? Thanks. :thumbsup2

Hello! :goodvibes

You are right, the dessert party cannot be in the MK park. It is held at the GF, and is either at the marina or a little further along at Sago Cay Pointe.

For pictures, check out Carly's amazing PJ. She had a Wishes dessert party at Sago Cay Pointe at the GF, and it looked like a lot of fun! She's got some great pics in there of the locale all dressed up for the party.

Now for an unscheduled interruption:
I was going back and forth between UK Epcot and Sago Cay Pointe, but decided to stick with Epcot, so my reasoning may be the opposite of what you want, but I decided to share it in case other brides may want to know this information. At the GF you have to pay extra (if you want) to pipe in the music for Wishes. Also, your view is of the side of the castle, so the fireworks seem to be a bit off. We watched it from there, and I wasn't as in love with the show as from the MK itself. BUT, you may still love it, so check out YouTube for videos of Wishes from the Grand Floridian.

I also didn't love the Sago Cay Pointe location in "real life". I took some pictures of it, if you'd like to see (I left them large for better viewing):

Looking towards the MK (you can see the castle in this shot):

I talked about it with my planner, and she talked me into Epcot for one major reason: Illuminations' schedule is set, and is much more likely to go ahead regardless of weather. Wishes' schedule can change up to two days in advance depending on weather and park guest counts, and she warned me that any changes in shedule can be a nightmare to inform your guests of. So, I chose Epcot to make my life easier... there are more chances of it happening even in bad weather, and the schedule won't change last minute!

I hope that helps!! :goodvibes

Wazzo, THANKS! Illuminations it is. I guess I needed to wrap my mind around the idea and make sure I am considering EVERY choice. The pictures helped quite a lot. :thumbsup2

I agree about the Wishes schedule. We had a Wishes cruise scheduled for the night before our wedding. All along Wishes was supposed to be at 9:00pm (this was a Sunday night). The day before our cruise (Saturday) they came out with a new schedule and Wishes was scheduled for 10:00pm. We ended up cancelling our Wishes cruise because we were getting married at 9:00am Monday morning in Epcot and felt a 10:00pm Wishes cruise was just too late considering how early everyone had to get up the next morning.

I also agree with the viewing of Wishes from the GF. The fireworks are on the side of the castle and do not look as nice as when you are watching them from the front of the castle.

Linda
