Our family is going to Disneyland on January 1st through the 3rd and want to save money by picnicking for lunch. I know a little about it but wanted as much info as possible before we go, (lockers, picnic area, the best time to get a locker, etc.). Any and all information will be helpful.

Thanks so much.

According to WDW Info, there is a picnic area near the Mickey and Friends tram. I would get there VERY early. DLR is crazy crowded on holiday weekends. Besides out of towners, there is a huge amount of locals who will be there early in the a.m. You should be prepared for wall to wall people!!!

I can't answer this question for you, but if you try asking on the Disneyland forum you might more responses . http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26

Do you need a locker?
We usually bring our own lunch, and keep it in a backpack on us. It lightens up after we eat, and we have room to throw the other various things we pick up throughout the day. Plus it is always good to hae a snacks and things on you.
I'll usually bring sandwiches or lunchables for the kiddos, and ready pak salads for myself. Just make sure you aren't bringing in anything glass into the parks, or any knife, even a plastic one. I had a giant sub sandwich onece, and the CMs at the security checkpoint reminded me to stop by one of the counter service places to grab a knife to cut it up!
My favorite place to eat is the lower level of the Hungry Bear resturaunt- it is a great shaded place to watch the boats and ducks go by.
Another good place is the carnation gradens, it is pretty out of the way.
In DCA my favorite place to eat is the Pizza Mow wow, but i think it might be blocked off right now with construction. The seating for the hot dog place by muppet vision 3-d is shaded and not to noisy to enjoy a meal also. The biggest table area is back by the sourdough bread/ chinese/ mexican resturants, but it is uncovered, and the noise coming from Screamin is a bit much for me.

When we do this we just carry our food in a backpack. Things like PB&J, apples, crackers, granola bars, fruit cups, chips, pretzels, water etc. Then we usually just find a nice bench in the park and eat. Don't eat at the counter service restaurants because those tables are for paying customers and people will get annoyed when they can't find a table and you are sitting there eating your PB&J. But you will find plenty of places to relax and eat that are out of the way.

Just make sure you only bring in a soft cooler (no hard coolers allowed) and no glass containers/bottles.

Have fun!
