Does anyone know if they have started the Picnic in the Park at AK again? I searched the threads and couldn't find anything. We're going to be there in two weeks and I was hoping to try it. Thanks!

Hi! Thanks to the Dis I had heard about Picnic in the Park before going to WDW this past Easter. The Picnic in the Park was offered however, I had to ask 2 CMs before they were able to tell me where to find it!

It ended up being offered at the (I think) Island Mercantile. It was all grab and go food. You had to grab a reusable shopping bag and fill it according to the posted guide. We did the picnic for 2 and we were able to choose 2 sandwiches (from the pre-made sammies in the fridge - which were so yummy!), 2 bags of chips, 2 bottles of water, and 2 desserts (apple, orange, banana, cookie, rice krispie treat). It was $17.99ish.

I thought it was one of the best deals in the park! The sandwiches were not the typical turkey/ham/roast beef sammies... we had some really interesting sammies!

We were there Tuesday and I saw nothing about it. I didn't actually ask anyone, but I sort of looked around for it and didn't see anything.

Wow, if that is how it is working now, that is quite a change from before. We were hoping to get this for lunch and will have 6 adults in our party. We were going to get chicken.

I believe they still do the grab and go sandwiches but if you want the pre-ordered picnic with chicken, that is "seasonal" and may or may not be offered at any time.

When I asked the (2 or 3) CMs about it, they all had to refer to their "cheat sheet" that listed what was happening when and where... Oh to get my hands on that paper.

Anyway, as I said earlier I had heard about the chicken, etc. but the only options given to me were the grab and go. I would make sure I asked a CM about it first thing in the a.m. that way you can order the pre-order if available.
