I have read posts about "picnic in the park" but I am not familair with it. I'd love to hear the details about it and feedback from anyone who has expereinced it. How do you book it-costs ?-etc. THANKS!! :)

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=553 this is an overview of the picnic. we are planning it for december.:yay: there is now an option for 2 people.
There's two small errors in that description--you can *also* order at the pickup location, which is Kusafiri Bakery in Africa right by the safari. And while you *may* need to allow up to 2 hours, it can be less depending on how busy they are. We were told at the time we ordered that the first available pickup time would be an hour and 15 minutes later, IIRC.

The meal for 2 was $18.99 plus tax. We thought the veggie wrap was unimaginative (but certainly edible and fresh, just a little boring), the tuna pita was really fresh, and the tandoori tofu was amazing. One of the best QS items we had the whole trip.

It's not the bag shown in the picture anymore--it's almost the same, but has a special picnic in the park logo instead of the Mickey tree logo.

We were told to go to the bakery to order it as well as pick it up. We got the chicken meal for 3 people. It more than fed the 5 of us. The chicken was really good. It was the best lunch we had on the trip. I have a brochure some where. I will see if I can find it.

We did this last week. We were 4 adults and ordered the 8 piece chicken dinner with mac & cheese, orzo and fruit for the sides. For dessert, we choose 2 cookies and 2 brownies. I can't remember the price since we used CS credits (1 per adult) I do remember that is was too much food for the 4 of us. We ordered it at a little stand next to the first store before the tree of life. Then picked it up at the window. Be prepared to wait since they pack it while you wait. We would do it again as the food was really good but not get as much. We could have spilt the 3 person meal and had plenty. BTW the water bottles are the little ones not the ones they charge $2.50 for. That would be the only drawback.

We did the "picnic in the park" over Labor Day weekend. It was our favorite cs meal on the trip. We had sandwiches with sides of pasta salad and fruit. It was fantastic.

thanks, olallamom! i'm glad to hear y'all had a great meal. i just hope the weather is good in december.:yay:
