Picnic Area Location at Sea World

We are headed to Orlando in a few weeks and will be stopping by Sea World at least 1 day of our trip. I think we are going to pack a picnic type lunch for our day there. Can someone tell where a good place is to stop in the park and eat our lunch? I noticed at Disney on our past trip that they do not have many places to do that (we had dining plan so never packed there) unless you sit at the tables at a counter service restaurant. I know many people would frown upon us doing that if we are not purchasing food there.

Thanks for any info!

They don't really expect you to bring your lunch since they sell food so they don't have picnic tables open to the public. They give so many free days to the park expecting to make money on the other things like food while you take advantage of the return for free option. Can remember a pavilion on school field trips where classes ate but for families I would say try to get one of the tables by the ice cream shop or out in front of Voyagers in a not busy time for meals.

If the path going through the Bay Side Stadium is open there are benches in the shade that would work for a picnic, too.

Like Disney parks, no glass is allowed, no straws are allowed, and no coolers are allowed except for small soft coolers.

From the dining, food and beverage policy:
" Large hard or soft coolers, glass containers, food, drinks and picnic lunches may not be taken into the park."

You cannot bring the food into the park at all. You could picnic in the parking lot I guess. However, we just trump it up to part of our vacation cost getting to eat in the park. We just do without fast food or junk food for a while before going to help save for the cost of meals. It gives us something extra to look forward to.

Sea World does not have the official food friendly policy that Disney has for allowing you to bring your own food in the park. I've never had a problem bringing cheese cracker/granola bars in my back pack though. Because of the official policy, however, I haven't ever tried to bring full meals / soft sided cooler, etc. like I do at Disney. The policy (see below) is pretty clear on this. If you want to do a picnic lunch, you'll probably need to go back to your car and eat there. Here's a web link and the official food policy:

www.seaworld.com/SitePage.aspx?PageID=130
"Dining, Food, and Beverage Policy"
"Restaurants and concession stands are located conveniently throughout the park. Large hard or soft coolers, glass containers, food, drinks and picnic lunches may not be taken into the park. Guests with special diets, baby formula or baby food may bring their items into the park"

I will say, though, that the food you can purchase at the Sea World is really pretty good for a theme park. We are, though, talking theme park prices.

I recently posted in a topic the current prices of sea world meals at all of it's counter service dining locations. Except Seafire Inn cause of the Luau was always going on when I got there.

They're even fairly strict on it at Aquatica, where you can pay for a locker just outside the park and use the picnic tables there.

I've never had a problem bringing snacks and such, but I can't say I've brought a whole meal.

Thanks for the info.! I wasn't planning to take a huge meal with us...just a small soft-sided cooler that will accomodate sandwiches, drinks, and apple slices. Eating out multiple times during this trip so just wanted to try to save a few $$ where we can. :)

Sounds like our best bet will be to just run out to our car when we are ready to eat...might even be nice to sit in the air conditioning for a while. We have a local amusement park that doesn't allow food inside either, so heading to the parking lot is really no big deal to us. Usually what we do when we go there.

We have brought our lunch in with us on several occasions. We pack sandwiches, granola bars, fruit etc. and eat in the stadiums while we wait for shows to start.

We recently went to Seaworld and Busch Gardens we brought fruits, snacks and plastic bottle dirnks each day. I think that my backpack was almost full of just food and we had no problems (except a comment from the checker that it was not all healthy!).

In stead of a cooler, you might try just a cooler pack in a bag if the items do not need to be cooled for a long time.

I hope that you have a frugal and wonderful trip!

We have a shoulder bag that is a cooler. What we do is freeze one or two of our bottles of water to keep the rest cool. My husband sometimes brings his lunch because of his health. He is not a red meat eatyer and gets tired of chicken so sometimes opts for a cheese sandwich from home when we do the All Day Plan
