Picky kids

I have some picky kids....they do NOT like most typical kids meals. We have booked almost all buffets for our TS, but I am concerned about our CS meals. They seem pretty much basic and kiddie. The kids don't like fries, they don't love carrots and applesauce either, so that usually leaves grapes only. The worst thing is our oldest is a disney adult at 11, and the other kids always envy his choices. We did hit sunshine seasons last year, and they had nice kid meals, but what other CS have non-traditional kids meals? Which CS have NO kids meals, so that my kids could choose a salad or sandwich or something more unusual (not unusual like sushi or anything, just not nuggets etc...) TIA

most CS have one more "unusual" item instead of the standard nuggets/pizza/hot dog... but the ones w/the more "exotic" offerings can be found in epcot's world showcase... some of the resort CS' also have more interesting kids' choices...

you might consider sharing... when ds was a child (by disney's standards... not mine! LOL) we often got a kids meal and a chef salad for me and split both... it worked well... same w/breakfast, he got kids' pancakes or waffles and i got an adult omelette and we both enjoyed both... we also found that the adult breakfast platter was sufficient for both of us and sometimes even dd for a three way split :)

The best thing to do is to read through all of the menus before you go. Choose the places that have things your kids will eat. You can find the menus at www.allearsnet.com.

Make a list of places that have things your kids will eat. When you're hungry, it's easier to look at your list instead of wandering around and reading menus.

Also if you're not on the Dining Plan, your younger kids can order anything they want. They're only restricted to the kid's menu if you're on the Dining Plan. Perhaps the Dining Plan is not right for your family because of the limited choices. You could have them share adult meals or buy the items they like a la carte.

We did the Dining Plan with our picky kids once and we decided we won't do it again. We'd rather pick and choose what they eat with no restrictions.

Sometimes if you ask about a reasonable sub they will let you do it. You mention that your kids don't likes fries. If you ask, they may well let you have a double portion of grapes, or sub in a vegetable. (esp. at TS places) Also, if the kid's menu (I'm kind of thinking of the TS places) has say hamburger with fries and fish with fruit cup - you may well be able to swap the fries for the fruit cup with the burger.

I'd also say if you don't want the typical American kid offerings, avoid the American themed places. Try the more 'exotic' places.

I also second the idea of ordering food 'for the table' and sharing across plates. One place in Orlando has the most amazing burgers - but they are only on the kid's menu. The adult menu is geared towards steaks. DH gladly shared his steak with my niece to get half her burger. :goodvibes It was THAT good!
