Last time we went to Disney all of my kids were considered kids. This year two of my kids will be "adults" - 12 and 10 at time of trip. Not a problem for the 10 year old. He will LOVE eating as an adult. My 12 year is picky, picky, picky! I'm looking at yak and yeti for example. There is not one thing there that he will even touch. Can he order kids meals at those places? If he does, will he be able to get the regular adult dessert or will he have to get the kid one?

I am married to a 31 year old who sounds a lot like your 12 year old - here are my tips. Yes, no matter your age you can order off the kids menu. I think I've read that you can even request an adult sized portion of items and maybe pay a bit more, but I've never tried this myself. Also, we'll frequently order from different places in the parks and still eat together. Today for example, DH brought his pizza from pizzafari in the nomad lounge where I was ordering. Disney doesn't care. Good luck!

Do not waste an adult ts credit on a kids meal. Tell the server you will be paying cash for his kids meal and save the ts credit for an adult to use.
I didn't even think of that! Though we will eat a lot of buffets too so I'm not sure we would have enough to make another meal for all of us. Definitely something to think on though.

Does your youngest picky too? If they are not your youngest can order off the adult menu and your oldest can order off of the kids menu.

Good idea, but youngest is picky too, even more so. I'm not sure how my middle child ended up loving everything!

I have 2 kids. One eats everything like my husband and the other eats like me, Very picky. However she is much worse then me. We tend to only eat at places I know my daughter and I will eat. My husband hates it because he wants to try new things.

Does this really work? I have an 11 year old that is a Disney adult for the first time this year and is a very picky eater. I would love to pay cash for him to order off the kid's menu and use the credits elsewhere.
