Picky eater advice for breakfast

I have reservations for Garden Grill, and Akershus for breakfast. Eggs are enemy #1. (Not an allergy, can have things like French Toast and such, just can not eat them in their natural state) I know that Garden Grill (family style), and Akershus has a hybrid family style-buffet; and they both serve eggs to the table.

Should I add a note to my reservation, or just let them know that I will not need eggs at my table when I check in?

I do not want to see them go to waste, and honestly not a fan of being around them for that matter. I am strange, I know.

Thank you. :)

Not strange I'm the same way I hate eggs and can not eat them or take the smell of them. I would tell them at check in or when your server first comes to the table.

There are plenty of non-egg options at most places. I share your pain--unless they are scrambled, I'm not a fan either, and even then, they have to be non-runny and not made with butter and/or salt. I don't usually order them out.

Keep in mind restaurants have to be accommodating of allergies these days. While you do not have an allergy, eggs are a common one, so substitutions will likely be OK at any of these places. They'll probably give you something like fruit in their place. Just be nice about it and say that you cannot eat them.

I don't eat whole eggs either, but I am fine with egg whites. If this is an option for you, I know that Ohana was perfectly willing (offered, actually) to serve me scrambled egg whites while the rest of the family had the platter. I would imagine other places would likely do the same.

Thank you everyone. I will let them know at check in, and will let the server know. Seeing that those two restaurants have quite a selection to chow down on, I know that I will not go hungry.

I would not tell them you "can't eat" eggs. Because mickey waffles have them as an ingredient and then it could get awkward. I would just tell them you have a strong aversion to them and please don't bring them to the table as they make you lose your appetite. Sub extra mickey waffles, bacon and tater tots and life is good lol. this will be what my child eats (at least at garden grill. no clue on akershus, he won't go a princess meal with a 10 foot pole)

Great way to politely describe it. Hehehe! With me that aversion has been an issue all of my life. Also, Aversion is a perfect choice of words. Thank you.

I'm the opposite. I can't imagine a world without eggs. But enjoy your visit!

I have read that aversions are precursors to allergies. It is your body's natural defense against something that it knows with repeated exposure would sensitize you to it and eventually be an allergy. I would tend to think this is the case because eggs are a common allergen. However many people who cannot tolerate eggs whole can tolerate them in baked goods (like WAFFLES!) so keep yourself safe and avoid those eggs ;)

I am one of those that can tolerate them in baked goods, and oddly I LOVE meringue. I have asthma which puts me at a higher risk of being sulfur sensitive. That is where my issues creeps into being. I avoid onions too, and seeing that they are in just about everything I end up picking around them.
