My son is a very picky eater, due to a sensory disorder. He doesn't eat meat or pasta. We are on DDxP and I just realized there are some places he won't be able to eat anything, such as Yachstman Steakhouse or Yak and Yeti. He will eat PB&J, grilled cheese, and mac and cheese.

Has anyone tried ordering these when they weren't on the menu? I would think it would be pretty cheap and easy for them to make a grilled cheese for him. He could also possibly eat off of the adult menu, but even though credits are pooled, I don't think they'd allow this.

Thanks

Have you checked out the DisAbilities Board?

I know the chefs are wonderful for children with allergies. I don't know for sure but the chefs might be able to accomidate his needs for certain food.

If it was me - I would either stick to going only to places where you know there's something that he will like OR I would just let him munch on a side of fruit or french fries or any other side he might like and then let him get a dessert. Or another option is to give him your appetizer as his meal (or I would have the appetizer for mine and give him the main dish if he only likes the adult choices). I know my kids would love if I let them skip the 'main dish' on vacation. If he's still hungry you could grab him a CS meal or another snack on the way out of the restaurant.

My son is borderline asperger's but it's actually is sister who is way more picky. Just like we don't go to the Indian restaurant here in town because 3/4 of us won't like the menu...we don't choose menus that don't appeal at WDW. Or we plan accordingly (like letting them just have dessert or other).

And, let me say, you could always ask - but I certainly wouldn't go in expecting it. Just like I would never walk into my Indian restaurant and ask for a hamburger only because I won't eat anything in there - I mean, I walked into an Indian place so I knew what I was getting...if I didn't want it - I would walk in somewhere else.

Yak and Yeti may be a problem getting something he'd like, so maybe plan on grabbing a CS for him before you go in. Yachtsman has a cheese pasta on the menu which I'm fairly certain is mac n cheese. Or they may be able to get you a grilled cheese sandwich from in room dining.

If you are eating at a resort and don't see anything on the kids meal your child will eat, scope out the other kids meals in the resort (restaurants or room service) because if somewhere nearby has something, they may be able to get you it.

I don't see anything on the Yak & Yeti menu that includes these ingredients so this is one place where it would probably be better for you to feed your son first or bring a PB&J sandwich with you.

If your son is 3-9 he is on the child's plan and his credits are not pooled with the adults' credits. If he's 10 or older, then yes, he would have an adult plan and his credits would be pooled with yours.
