Pickle part III

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g60890-Cambridge_Massachusetts-Hotels.html

Scroll down to Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn Express and the Hampton Inn.

Ignore the review that calls the HIE the "outskirts of Boston" - NOT TRUE!! It is in Cambridge, very easy to get around by public transportation. If possible, I'd not use a car in Boston - parking is impossible and parking garages are expensive. Public Transportation is so easy and all of the above are very handy to the heart of Boston and easy to get to Symphony Hall.

It is a beautiful city! Very European in design. Keep me posted and please let me know if I can help.

Also check prices for Courtyard by Marriott, Copley Place.

The following hotel is in the heart of Harvard Sq (talk about history ....and my old stomping ground), has great reviews, says it is reasonable cost....and I know it is a bus ride directly to Symphony Hall - literally drops you in front of the Hall. Bus stop is a couple of charming blocks from the hotel. :)

I could go on and on with more suggestions, but it can get overwhelming. All the hotels are fantastic location wise and will be less costly. Please do not even comsider a place in a seedy area - not worth it at all. Do let me know if you need more. I have a new email address - don't hesitate to message for it...it is the chrissy7273 in case you have already have it. Laptop keys no longer work, on an iPad now.

Hey Janet. No, we will not be seeing our best friends this year at all! :sad2: Our Dominican trip went bust because of complications from my surgery and other issues, so we will be celebrating our 15th anniversary there next year and also renewing our vows. :lovestruc This trip to Boston is our "vacation" this year. We just need to get away. It also falls on the week that my youngest step daughter is graduating which happens to be on our wedding anniversary...:headache:, so once that is over, we will catch the late ferry (they live on an island in our province) and drive somewhere that evening across the border, hang our hats for the night and then head to Boston on the 20th. Gonna be a crazy week for sure.

Wonderful news on all of your Disney trips! This will be the first year since 2009 that we won't be there. Not even sure if we'll be going next year either. Depends on a lot of factors right now and I am okay with that. There's always another time, Godwilling. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on the weight loss. Feels good, doesn't it? :) I've been losing it at a very unhealthy rate since my gall bladder surgery, so my surgeon needs to figure that stuff out and pump some nutrients into me somehow. I'd give anything to change that bad decision to have it removed. Hindsight and all that. ;)

We watched the Bible series last night. Can't wait to see it all! Was surprised they started it where they did, but loving it nonetheless.

Happy Monday, all. How many hours until Friday? :rolleyes2 SO tired of all this snow. I am DONE with it already! We are buried in it.

Cheers!

Trace, so sorry to hear of your troubles from your gall bladder surgery. Hopefully the doctor can figure out the issues and address the weight loss so you can feel better and get stronger. :flower3: Its good to lose weight but not in this way. Don't look back on your decision to have your surgery.. it's in the past and nothing can be done about that...just look forward and know you will get better eventually. And you always have us for help.

And sorry that you had to postponed your D.R. trip, but sure it will be very special when you do go... and renewal of your wedding vows will be wonderful. :goodvibes You are right, Disney will always be there when you are able to go...being with your family is so important. :goodvibes Hope Cassidie is having a great year! Is she turning 12 this year??

Last year was not a good one for us, our DS has had his struggles, but we are hopeful that 2013 turns that around. Went to Disney in early January on a girls trip, and decided to get an AP, so must get my $$ worth right? :upsidedow

Plus knew that we would be traveling to Florida this summer for other sightseeing (besides Disney) and hopefully will manage a few days at Disney at the beginning before we head on to other areas.:thumbsup2

And yes, it feels good to look in the mirror and like what you see...it's not even about the weight loss, when you eat better and exercise you feel better on the inside too... and it's reflected in more energy, a toned body, etc. and much easier to resist bad habits.

Hey, let's all try to keep our pickle thread going! I miss the old days when it was lightning fast!! ... I'll settle for a soft steady rain....:thumbsup2

Good day all! :flower3:

party:HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Heather!! One day late! Hope you have a long weekend to celebrate!party:
Thanks! I had a great Birthday month!!!! Went on the cruise, got to see Janet, had a long weekend the weekend of my birthday, and got together with Brian's side of the family to go snowtubing the last weekend of the month (and didn't wind up in the ER) All in all, 40 has been great!!!

Oopsie. Looks like I have missed some messages. My email has been wonky. I am somehow sending spam to myself. LOL! Have changed my password and no clue how this is happening.

Hey Christine, if you don't mind, can you tell me what parking is like around Symphony Hall in Boston and what area of the city that it's in? I'm trying to find a cheap place to stay, but I am confused with how the different parts of the city are named when checking Expedia. Appreciate if you could weigh in.

Hey Heather! Whut up, girl? :)
Ohhh....Boston sounds fun! I've never been there. (actually, I now think I may have been there at 2 or 3, but don't remember it)
Hi Pickles Peeps! :wave2:

Just rec’d a notification so thought pop in! :goodvibes

Cool, on the Boston trip Trace! Might you be meeting up with your friend April?? :flower3: And you mentioned the Dominican Republic a page or two back .. is that taking form?

For us … planning on Disney this August with maybe another one or two trips.... I do have this AP to use…we are eyeing beginning of November for MNSSHP (and to party with Heather!) and then there's the grannie trip!

Sam and I have been exercising together and we both have lost some weight and toned up. The good news is she is focused on changing her lifestyle… which I have been waiting for her to realize that she has too! Prayers do get answered.

Been watching the Disney channel since Christine told me the Lion King was on… now Tangled is on!
Have a good Sunday night all!
I am crossing my fingers the timing works, both to see you AND do MNSSHP.
It would be a blast!

Congrats again to you and Sam on your weight loss. I just started a March Madness fitness thing to get myself moving. It is a group a friend started on facebook...you have to do something active each day, and post it in the group...so far we are all motivating each other, but I know that I can't keep up with most of them.

Really? Well that stinks. :( Oh, I always go to the hotel site after I check Expedia, no worries there. We will be there June 20-23. Looks like we're going to end up in a dive area then. Thanks for checking anyways. I guess there is no need to now. We may need to stay on the outskirts and then play "get on and off the turnpike because we don't have a clue where we are going" for hours upon end. :rotfl2:

I hope your Dr can get you eating more normally soon. That has to be hard. Hang in there.

Sorry you had to cancel DR, but it will be so much more special when you go and renew your vows next year. That will be awesome!

And Disney will still be there.....and you know it will be even more magical after time away.

Okay, now I have myself completely wound up and overwhelmed with everything. (just got back from a doctor appointment and well, not what I wanted to hear.) I wasn't really looking anywhere, to be honest. Was just looking for cheap. So driving is not recommended. Oh boy. Anxiety attack coming on strong! I am terrified of subways, trains and buses. (don't ask) I appreciate all you've looked into for me. I actually may have found a place to stay for free. A wonderful woman in a private group of friends that I belong to, has offered her home to us! I'm bowled over. Will have to think about it and discuss with Mark. That sure would knock a chunk off our budget! What to do!? I hate having to make a decision like this.

Thanks for your prayers about my surgery. I've got lots praying for me. ♥ It's been nothing but a nightmare since my surgery at Christmas. Can't eat a thing, except saltines without the salt, and an apple, without it going straight through me and am having phantom gall bladder attacks. Not to be having a pity party or anything and I am most certainly not looking for sympathy, but by George, if something is going to screw up or go wrong, you can guarantee it will happen with me!

So, off my pity party train and on to checking hotels...somewhere. :rotfl:

Sorry, Tracy! That sucks! Did the Doc have a reason this is happening, or is it "normal" after surgery. I know you have got to be frustrated, as this was supposed to make things better. pixiedust: and prayers.

That is good news on the house your friend offered! That would certainly be the nicest way to go with the most room. And she could tell you how to get to everything you are looking at going to. I have no advice on the transportation, as I hate to drive in the city :drive::scared:

Good day all! :flower3:

I'm sorry. I don't want want to sound like I am complaining or looking for pity/sympathy because I am definitely not. I'm seeing many doctors and specialists, so we'll get it all sorted out some how. I will scream if I have to take one more dang pill, though!! And they all know! Tears and more tears. At least they are willing to work with me and have patience and compassion.

Cassidie is turning 13 this year (going on 23) and facing her share of struggles. So unfortunately, for us, late 2012 and 2013 has been the worst one yet. :( I am sorry that you had problems with your son. Every family has their issues. Fact of life, right? I hope things are looking better for him.

Ha! I look in the mirror and see a scraggly, tired, beat up, 105 year old lady. LOL Glad you love what you see and happy that your daughter is also taking an interest. I am also getting Cassidie involved with exercising as much as I can and helping her make better food choices, but it's a tough battle.

Enjoy that annual pass and all of those Florida trips!

Have a great day, Janet. :flower3:

Well you've seen my posts on Facebook about all the crap, so you know it's totally sucked since having it out. If you research, about 10% of people have these issues. Aren't I special?! :rotfl2: So yeah, hopefully the surgeon will be able to help. Of course, it's other things too, and add them altogether, and well, you get meltdown Tracy. :sad2: Everything going on is just so overwhelming. It has got to let up at some point. I bawled to our minister last week, telling her that we are losing our faith as we have been begging, pleading and praying our hearts out for relief and a sign of His presence for SO long, but nothing. We feel totally abandoned. I got a hug and bawled. I do that a lot lately. heh

Oh, the friend will be going to the same venue so we'd be traveling with her. :worship: I HATE driving anywhere with tolls, or where I am not familiar with the roads. We don't have tolls here. Yeah, that's why our roads are (insert choice of swear word here) and we pay out the nose in taxes that are supposed to fix these roads, but well, not going to get into politics because my blood pressure meds aren't doing the trick right now, at I am having a hard time keeping it down :rolleyes1

Happeh Monday, eh!!

 Hang in there Pickle!

If your friend is going too, I'd stay there...more fun and convenient, AND you can save $$ (but I say that knowing that Brian would rather stay at a hotel than at someone's house, so...)

I need some job pixiedust: from my Pickles. Brian just got the official word that his office is moving to Dallas in June. So he either needs to find something else or move to Dallas. Crossing my fingers he finds something sooner rather than later.

Geez, Trace, that is an awful lot for anyone to be going through! It certainly is NOT looking for pity ...and you deserve any sympathy we feel because what you are going through is the pits.

I am glad for the good news of being offered to stay with a friend - where does she live? What town? I LOVE Boston and miss it terribly. It is a beautiful European designed small, very walkable city. I hope you get a chance to drive through the most historical areas - perhaps your friend will take you around...it is easy because it is so small. Of course, many from the suburbs think they are going into Hell's Kitchen just driving into Boston, :rotfl: but I promise it is not like that at all and very charming.

Symphony Hall is very close to Back Bay and Beacon Hill - wish I was still there so I could give you the Cook's tour. ;)

I am very sorry for all you've been through and hope it will be resolved very soon.

Lately, I have taken a liking to Joel Osteen - he has the most uplifting message every week and says we must take what God has for us and see ourselves as we want to be - believe it, say it and own it and it will happen. I am giving that a try for a change.

Very gentle hugs. :hug;

Trace,
I am very sorry you had had so many issues wiith this surgery... It's not right and hopefully the Docs find out a solution STAT... It's not the way to live your life...

Guess what.. the beat up bit is also a side effect of having a teenager (to be in your case). :goodvibes (and even when they aren't teens anymore).

You are certainly due for some pixie dust... maybe you will get a boatload after the long drought... hang in there Trace!

 Hang in there Pickle!

Heather... what can I say??? So sorry, you can't leave! (this speaks the selfish side of me!) I will be hoping and praying big time for Brian to not only find a job locally, but one that is even better than his last...

Okay, I am going to play the devils advocate here..

Dallas is a fantastic place!! How exciting - a real adventure!! Adjustment is always difficult, but if he has a good position now, would it be worth starting all over again with another company? Will his current company pay for the relocation? House are super affordable in the Dallas area and you would be shocked at the size you get for not very much money - in housing prices anyway.

Okay, that's enough of devils advocate. Is where you are now home? All your family nearby? Moves can be very difficult - but can also be a new lease on life too.

I pray everything works out exactly as you hope - big hugs and loads of PD! :grouphug:

Dallas? Oh wow. Prayers for you, girlfriend. No way I could live in a big city.

She's a real sweetie. I think we may take her up on her offer if it still stands. Could be lots of fun! I'm really not relishing the idea of sleeping in some fleabag infested motel in the red light district, cause that is exactly where we would end up! :lmao: No disrespect, Christine!

Thank you. I am just tired of being poked and prodded and shuffled around from one specialist to another, etc., on top of all the other crap going on... it's just too much. God IS giving us too much to handle. And I am mad. Mad as he**!! I've never had so many cry down on my knees meltdowns in my life as I have in the past six months. Begging for mercy. Ugh. There I go again. Sorry. Not looking for pity or want to be seen as a complainer or whatever. Blowing off steam, if anything. Shutting my mouth now. Promise.

Uhh, I don't know where she lives! :rotfl: Just that the offer was there and it was very sweet of her. We'll discuss more as the time approaches. We plan to drive around and take the tour. Mark was looking at restaurants (don't recall names) and drooling. LOL I've been to Boston a few times, but never really paid attention to it. Was in my much younger days.

If it was just us, I'd move to Dallas in a heartbeat! Would love a more laid-back area. But we don't want the kids to have to switch schools, and we also couldn't sell our house here right now...the market stinks, and unfortunately, we bought at the height of it.
Dallas? Oh wow. Prayers for you, girlfriend. No way I could live in a big city.

LOL! I think Philly is a bigger city than Dallas. Of course I say this never actually having BEEN to Dallas (other than the airport)

Mark was looking at restaurants (don't recall names) and drooling. LOL I've been to Boston a few times, but never really paid attention to it. Was in my much younger days.

:grouphug: Vent away!!!

Promise.

Trace, hope that your medical issues/life in general starts taking a turn for the positive... you have to hang in and ride it out...good things are awaiting. And yes, vent away!! It can be very therapeutic!

And i think it is a great idea to stay with your friend... first you can spend some time with them, and also have a local guide to help you navigate around the city. :goodvibes

Thanks! He has a couple leads, so our fingers are crossed.

If it was just us, I'd move to Dallas in a heartbeat! Would love a more laid-back area. But we don't want the kids to have to switch schools, and we also couldn't sell our house here right now...the market stinks, and unfortunately, we bought at the height of it.

LOL! I think Philly is a bigger city than Dallas. Of course I say this never actually having BEEN to Dallas (other than the airport)

:grouphug: Vent away!!!

Heather, you know I will keep fingers crossed (toes, etc. :goodvibes) for Brian to find something quick. Will check my work to see if they are hiring in Brian's area.

You know I think you need a night out ... Brian too.. :goodvibes we should plan something!! ::yes::

Heather - eh, I'm just a Canuck. I know nuthin about the size of cities down there but thought Dallas would be bigger. I thought you lived out in the willywags anyways, so not the same comparing the two, right? :p That's my logic. Which I might add, is in small numbers these days. LOL Prayers things work out the way you want. xo

We've decided to stay with my friend. They live on a lake, that's all I know and her husband is from Canada so we'll have lots to talk about for sure! Her hubby has even volunteered to take the three of us to the Symphony Hall and then come back and get us. Our own private chauffeur. :D Well, that's one of 1654542 monkeys off my back. :crowded::crowded: Yahoo.

Today, I have not showered, I have not moved off this sofa, I have not gotten dressed, (I did brush my teeth :teeth:) and I did not sleep more than two hours combined last night. Neither did Mark. We truly need a divine intervention right now. Any prayers you've got would be very appreciated. Thanks, gals.

I do kinda live out there...we are about an hour from the city, depending on traffic. but I have heard how much better the highways are in TX, so cutting down his commute would be sweet. That doesn't change the fact that we don't want the kids to switch schools unless there were no other options, though. I can see myself gettin' my Y'all on though. :teeth:

Ohhhh...that sounds nice on the lake:cloud9:

Hope you are feeling a little better today, Pickle!
