Hi all,
Never been on a cruise before, so need advise.
If you could pick a room, which side of the boat would you pick?
I don't know sailing terminologies  so would you pick the front, middle, or back of the boat?

Thanks so much!

Hi, we are going on our 1st cruise this year too, I am very prone to motion sickness Yikes, I remember reading somewhere the middle of the boat is best to avoid motion...

My favorite is Cat 6 Midship....port side....but Midship in any cat is good for motion sickness... if you are prone to sea sickness than I suggest using a patch and start wearing it a few days before you sail and keeping it on till you disimbark....:thumbsup2

I pick the stateroom based on the location, but I don't suffer from motion sickness. Looking toward the bow (front) of the ship, port is left, starboard is right, aft is rear and forward is the front of the ship.

Here is a fun website with nautical terms:

Motion sickness sufferers will find LESS motion on lower decks. Midship is also suggested..

We LOVE deck 7 for a multitude of reasons. There is the secret-NOT so secret deck there, we are 2 decks up from kids clubs, there are laundry facilities on this deck (as well as deck 6, and 2), we are 2 floors up from the pools, the drink station..

This is our preferred location. :)

We have never been on the starboard side so I suppose it's a tradition that we will book on the Port side.

So far we have been on Deck 7 midship starboard side and loved it. This next time we are more aft.

We go for Starboard Aft. It's great and if the boat backs into CC you're on the side that faces the Flying Dutchman!!

ok silly pooh brain question Starboard??

Starboard= right side of the ship if you are facing the bow(front). Port = Left and Aft = rear. So the pp (abbreviation for previous poster) likes the right side, rear of the ship.

I prefer port side just because its what I'm used to. I also prefer midship, but aft is my second preference.
