Lucky you. This year generally seems somewhat easier. For example, VWL is easier to get than previous years. But BLT and sometimes even AKV I still have to wait list frequently. May be you book in advance (5 - 7 months out) and I frequently want it within 2 - 3 months.

Booking that close to travel, 'home resort' offers no advantage and is no longer part of the equation. (I'm sure you know this -- I'm pointing it out for the sake of the OP who is juggling many inputs.)

I tried to get VWL at the 7 month for our trip, and no 1 bedrooms for this week. There was availability, but I want to stay in one place for the week, not really into moving around. So - we got a week at AKV, which is where DD wanted to stay anyway.

We bought AKV for one reason...THE POINT CHART! I think it's awesome to have an 11 month advantage since we can either splurge and stay concierge or stretch those points and stay value!!!
