Picking up your rental car...

My husband and I want to waste no time at the airport so we have a plan! We get off the plane in Orlando and we split up -- I take the carry-ons and head to the retal car booth -- DH heads to the Luggage carousel -- and we meet out front.

Anyone tried this? Will it work or will I be circling the airport waiting?

Luggage doesn't take that long. If you have to wait in line at the counter I'd have one of you go while the other gets the luggage. Meet up BEFORE you get the rental car. If you have National EA service I'd just get the luggage together. If both of you are going to be authorizied drivers have both drivers license.

We've rented the car with Dollar Rental. They are right at the airport.

Good idea too to meet up before I pick up the car -- that way we can be surprised together -- we got a convertible!

Good Idea to bring both of our licenses! I wouldn't have thought of that! We also have walkie talkies so we can find each other -- are we pathetic of what!

If you have time get the Dollar Fastlane card. You still have to wait in the counter but a much shorter line. Check your reservation, I think Dollar is now charging an extra driver fee even for spouses.

We do the walkie talkie thing too. I am a totally obsessive-compulsive vacation planner. Normally when we rent a car, it's very late or night or early in the morning so there is little or no wait. But at a peak time, I would have hubby gather the luggage while I do the car rental paperwork. Then I would meet him at the luggage carousel so we could go to the garage together to pick it up (of course, that would only work for the onsite places, not Hertz).
