Picking up tickets early..

Yeah. That's what they told me too. :confused3 My trip is not until December. For now I am crossing my fingers that Chesire Figment is correct. I would love to hear from someone who tried to pick up there tickets early in the past week. I would like to know if they had any problems.

Did you also email them about it? I wish there were consistent answers for all of us.... I am hoping to find out before Oct.13 one way or another so I can change my reservation if you can't pick up early.

I did email them, but no response yet. I spoke to several cast members and they all said I can't pick up the tickets a day early like I was hoping to. My back up plan is to either spend the day at Disney Quest, or to check out Seaworld. Seaworld had a nice deal on their website for two nights (at the Hilton) that included tickets and meals.

I agree, consistent answers would be nice.
For us, we're not going to chance it. Free dining or not. Our trip will be 7 nights, but are getting in late the first night so we will have 6 full days at WDW. We are staying off property for the first time because we had an already paid for time share package that was going to expire. So we're not going to take a chance on not having park tickets for the first 3 days of our stay (we are staying at the Polynesian for the last 3 nights and could get free dining if we could pick our tickets up early), or having to buy another set of park tickets for 4 people, which would totally negate the free dining savings.
Good luck to everybody, hope it works out for everyone though!

I would like to hear from somebody too...but I'm guessing that as soon as someone is NOT able to pick up their tickets we will DEFINITELY hear about it. :upsidedow

:sad2:

I nearly forgot that I sent this question in to ticket.inquiries@disneyworld.com a few weeks ago. I received this 8:30 this morning.

Here's my question and response:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.
Guests may not pick up their tickets prior to the date of their scheduled check-in for their Walt Disney Travel Company Magic Your Way package reservation. Magic Your Way tickets can not be picked up prior to the check-in date of your package reservation. These tickets are fulfilled at the front desk and will be on the room key.
Thank you again for contacting us.
Sincerely,
Melissa Acevedo

Hello,

My family is vacationing at Disney World 10/x through 10/x. We are staying 1 night at "a WDW Resort" with a room only reservation, then the remainder of our trip will be at "b WDW Resort" with a Magic Your Way reservation.

I understand that we can go to one of the Park’s (in our case "a WDW Park") or Downtown Disney’s Guest Relations office and request Early Ticket Pick-Up for Resort Packages in order to use our park tickets on 10/x and the balance of our trip. Is this correct?

Thanks,

:confused3

I'm following up and will reply with any additional responses.

I will be leaving in 10 days with a split stay res to take advantage of the free dining at least for a few of the nights. Before I purchased my tickets I had my TA confirm that I could get them 3 days prior. She confirmed and I got 7 day tix. Worst case senario is that I can not pick up my tix 3 days early, will they let me down grade them as I will no longer need 7 days?

It's really starting to sound more and more like this is where it's going. I'm thinking they are laying the groundwork for a real change, and that while the front lines will continue to allow it for now, by December I won't stand a chance. :sad1:

It seems somewhat inconvenient to do this: but could a separate length of stay ticket be purchased and the "free dining" reservation ticket be reduced to minimum 2 days, so that we could use the 2 day ticket any other time on a future trip (as long as we do not put a first use on them)?

SIAP, just wondering if this is a valid back-up plan...

It's more than inconvenient. It's too much money to tie up at this point for many people, especially those who traditionally travel only during free dining, which would require yet another ticket the following year.

I'm sorry but Disney is just being petty and small about this. I really donl't think there's a loss issue for them on this. So since they appear to not want people to have a room only reservation the night before a package starts, are they now going to try hard to make sure we all have to change rooms for the 2 parts of our stay too?

I have ADR's for that night I was intending to pay out of pocket for. I'm really starting to think if they don't want me there, maybe I should push myself off the proverbial fence and go onsite at Universal that night.

How is this any different from people buying tickets and using them when they move offsite for the last part of their stay?

Just classic that they will SELL us that day on our ticket.......... we just can't USE it............ you know............ apparently.............

It really is more than inconvenient, I have a Military package booked for our first night and that doesn't require tickets, so I was just going to pull them or even buy the Armed Forces Salute ticket, but they have made the 2 day base ticket $3 more than the AFS with WPFM, so I can't even do that. That would still save me money and I would have all the tickets I need with the extra options I wasn't planning on buying with the FD package.

We may just move ourselves on over to Sea World, we can get in free there, if they carry over the free ticket promo from the last couple of years. That will lose Disney a room and dining package, as well as the shopping I would have done on their property that one full day/night.

I really wish Disney would say something concrete about this issue. Even if it is "we have allowed this in the past but starting ....... we will no longer do this." We aren't going until October and I know people are able to pick up tickets right now, but will we still be able to in Ocober? This is causing me more stress than waiting on free dining promos to be announced.

I have a room only reservation at ASSp for 2 nights before checking in for our free dining package at Pop.

I called Walt Disney World Ticketing yesterday to ask about this. The first person I talked to said no you can't pick up tickets early. I told her that I was told by reservations a few months ago that I can do this so that's why I added a room only res and 2 days to my PH tickets. She put me on hold and then transferred me to someone else. I told the story again and this person put me on hold for a couple of minutes.

When she came back she said I can pick up the tickets early. I just have to go to Pop Century to do it. I questioned going to Pop because everything I've read about this is that you go to a park to get your tickets. She said this was per a supervisor. So I said what do I do when I get to Pop and they say they can't do it. She said tell them they can do it per ____ and if they have a problem have them call _____.

I'm not giving names to protect the not so innocent.

I'll let you know if this works in about 3 weeks.

I said I'd let you know if it worked. It did. We checked into ASSp on Aug. 17 then went to Pop to pick up the tickets. I got in the wrong line at first, I was in the check-in line and I was told to go over to Concierge. I just had to show ID and they gave me the tickets 2 days early. When we checked in at Pop on the 19th they put the park tickets on my KTTW card. There were no problems doing this at all. It was probably the easiest thing I did the entire 11 nights.

The inconsistency on Disney's part is driving me mad. I let them know (via email) about the conversation I'd had with Guest Services regarding this very issue - the girl on the phone had told me that if tickets were part of a package, we could not pick them up early.

Disney called my house and told me that while they had allowed early ticket pickup in the past, that policy had been discontinued.

Of course, I continue to read about people being able to pick up tickets early.

Maddening, I tell you!

There is seldom any point in worrying about what the "phone CM's" tell you about park operations.

Just thank them for their info...

then check HERE for what REALLY happens. :thumbsup2

Oh, I agree - which is why I ignored the original phone CM. I was suprised at my return call, though; the CM there had supposedly researched the issue specifically because I had emailed Disney about it.

I probably posted this earlier in the thread, but reading between the lines, it seems that Disney would not mind it if you assumed you could not get tickets early while you are planning, and planned accordingly. But if for some reason you planned poorly and arrived at Guest Services a day or two early hoping to get into the parks, they would issue them in the name of "service recovery".

I could be wrong. Or, even if I'm right, it could all change tomorrow. But that's what it sounds like to me. My (completely uninformed) guess is that if Disney is successful in discouraging most folks from early pickup, that's how this will stay.
