Picking up Rental Car

We are doing a split Disney/US trip, so we will only need a rental car for the US portion. We plan to take advantage of DME and Disney transportation while we're on site.
However, we will need to pick up a rental car on our last Disney day and use that to get to/around Universal for 2 days, then back to the airport.
So, my question is this: Our last Disney day we will be at AK. With the night time attractions that are now available, I'm thinking that we'll take a break midday, go pick up the rental car, relax at the resort, and head back to AK.
What is the easiest way to do this? Where can we pick up the rental car?
Would it make sense to take a bus to Dolphin and pick it up there? It seemed to me that may be easier than the car care center, but I wasn't sure.

I am trying to figure out a rental car as well. From what I am looking at I think the car care center might be our best bet. It looks like they will pick you up at your resort. Let me know what you find.

I arranged for a pickup at the Dolphin. We spent the day at Epcot and I boarded the Frienship cruise at the International Gateway and sailed to the Dolphin. I was next in line to check in and was given papers/keys and instructed to give them to the bellman. Shortly after, the car arrived, I tipped the driver and drove off. I was back at the hotel before the rest made it home using the Disney bus.
