Can anyone share their method of cleaning up dog poo from their yard?? I was using a ziploc baggie but its getting costly. Any other ideas how to dispose of the poop from my yard? Sorry if TMI......:rotfl:

I use the bag that comes with the newspaper and I also bought like 500 poop bags at Ross with an attachment for the leash when we walk on the neighborhood.

Newspaper bags as well....or any plastic bag left over from shopping.

Ziploc bags? I just ask for plastic at the grocery store (same as when I had kids in diapers).

My FIL has a pooper scooper he got at Home Depot or something. He has a small trash can he lines with a garbage bags from the Dollar Store. He throws the bag out twice a week on trash day. He keeps the can in the corner of the yard and just ties up the bag so it doesnt fill up with water on rainy days.

"Doodie gloves" and a grocery bag.

"Doodie gloves" are the disposable plastic gloves similar to the ones doctors and food servers use. You can get a box of them relatively inexpensively, but DH is in food service and always has them in his pockets when he comes home from work.

This method works best for me. And immediately after picking it up, the grocery bag goes right into the "big" garbage can outside.

they sell pooper scoopers for like $10. You walk around and scoop it up...carry around a plastic grocery sack to dump the poo into and voila...one time purchase....

This is what we do as well, although we don't clean it up all that often. We have a large fenced-in back yard, so no need to clean it more than every few weeks. The rain takes care of most of it.

We have a pooper scooper that you attach a plastic shopping bag to and it just scoops it right into the bag. I think we got it at PetsMart.

When on vacation with the dogs, we buy little plastic bags from the baby section at Walmart that are meant for dirty diapers. They're half the price of the poop bags in the pet section, plus they're baby powder scented, which is nice if you're out walking the dogs and have to go a ways before you get to a garbage can.

I have 2 goldens, so you can imagine the amt. of poo I have in my yard:scared1:

Anyway, we save our BIG dog food bags, as well as some of the 40-50 lb. sunflower seed bags we have. I go around every couple of days with a shovel and a rake and when I'm done it all gets deposited into 1 of these bags.

When it is half full of poo, it gets put into a black hefty bag and put into the trash! I know, gross for the trash guys but the hefty bags do a good job at containing all the smell.

I have asked many prof. gardeners if composting dog poo can be done. Nope....

at least you guys pick it up. i can't stand seeing people not pick it up. they are so obvious too because when their dog starts to squat, the owners start looking around like they are robbing a bank....

I use this and even take it on walks- although Riley is the type of dog to prefer her own yard to poop. She barely marks during our walks, but sniffs like crazy. Half way thru our walk we have a small dog area in the neighborhood so there's a garbage pail and baggies for poop so I rarely have to worry about carrying it too long.

I have a dispenser on my lease, similar to the kind you buy in the baby isle (used those for my kids when they were little), the one for my dog is shaped like a bone, use it on walks. I bought it for $1 at a dollar place and then at a store called the Christmas Tree Shop I bought a pack of 8 refill rolls (each roll has 20 bags) for $4. I also have a little scooper that has bags in the handle for the yard. Then just toss it in a can outside.

We have a dispenser when we go on walks. With 5 dogs we picked it up very week. Thankfully they all learn to poop in the back corner of our yard. The grass grows twice as fast over there, it always makes me question if it is really bad for it then why does it grow faster in that spot?

I use one dog poop bag to pick up and a grocery bag to put it in, with two labs we have a lot to pick up. I am thinking of getting one of those things you bury in the yard and put the poop in there so I don't use so many bags that clutter the land fills. The poop bags we have are biodegradable and we get 1000 at a time it's not that expensive, like $30, that's what we use for walks and outings. We get them at dogpoopbags.com.
