Picking a budget hotel/motel?

I've been reading this board for days looking for a good budget priced hotel/motel near DW for a couple nights in December. Since we are totally blowing our vacation budget by staying 2 more days, price is the leading issue but we want it clean and safe. No bells or whistles needed! Some of the reviews I've read are a little scary but some of the posts were over a year old. So ..... any updated reviews on the very inexpensive properties near DW? Days Inn, Travelodge, HoJo, Rodeway, Quality Inn, etc etc????

I almost stayed at Rodeway Inn.

I didn't because I went to see it - the rooms were fine.

the problem is that part of US 192 is busy, very, very busy.

Spicey walks on a lease - but sometimes he does get away.

there was just too much traffic on that road for me to chance it.

without a pet or a child you will be fine.

sometimes you can find a better rate here

you need to join - but it is free

In April I stayed at the Quality Inn Maingate West. Got it for under $30 on priceline. It was fine, very close to the back entrance to disney. Didn't even have to travel on 192 because you could leave thru the back of the parking lot and get on Black Lake then Sherberth Rd. It was not fancy but quiet and clean. It came with a free continental breakfast also (not great but free).

hi
another vote for quality inn maingate west, we have just come back basic motel very clean and near to all neccesary locations. have booked for january. we got it for £16 including all taxes and fees. which i believe is under $30. very good value :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

If your main concern is price then I would suggest Priceline, but with them there is no way to know where you will end up. I have seen people get hotels for about $25.00 per night on the 192 highway. Which if you are not familiar with the area can be misleading. It is a divided road, each direction has about three lanes and there are red lights all the way up and down the road. Easy enough to get around and pretty close to WDW property.

Also wanted to add that if you go to the official website of the above listed hotels, you will pay more than going through Priceline. Most of the hotels you listed are the very same ones that show up through winning bids on Priceline and can be won for about $20 less per night, or even lower depending on the season of travel.
