My son is so picky that we hardly ever go out for dinner with him. Its so bad that sometimes he eats before we go to dinner. I am worried about disney dinners that there will be nothing on the menu that he likes. Will the restaurants be mad if we dont order for him. I know it sounds crazy but he is that picky and may have to eat before we go out.

My 9yo DS is picky. How old is your son? What will he eat?
Most of the sit down places offer some basic kids meals. I think my son ate the same thing for 3 nights in a row, but that is his problem. I am sure some day he will eat normally - at least I am praying he will.

My son is 8 and has always been picky. My other two boys eat very well and like almost everything they try. We are going to get a villa with kitchen because we thought it would be easier but wanted to go to dinner too. My son eat all breakfast food but not eggs. He loves peanut-butter but not jelly. He has been trying some veggies but nothing to write home about. I hate to fight with him about food at a restaurant. I have been looking at the menus already so he can try more things. Hopefully something will stick and he will like it.

Maybe you should tell him that he better stays with his grandparents ore other family if he stays so is picky and see how he reacts :rotfl2:

He has missed out of a lot of things because of this. It really is hard. He has tried new things but does not eat enough to survive. He wants to like new things but does not like them when he tries them. We keep trying and he does too just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions!

I really do understand how hard this can be and wish I could tell you that they grow out of it in time but my DD is now 13 and seems to be more picky than ever - she has a very limited diet but the difference between your DS and my DD is that my DD will not try anything new. I've tried to quit worrying and I've spent hours, yes hours looking at all the WDW menus on All Ears site to find possibilities for her to eat and we're almost done - picked my ADR's - if she doesn't eat much at a TS restaurant, she'll have to grab a CS in the park or resort or snack - I'm sure she'll not come to much harm. Good Luck.

thanks for the warm reply. Sometimes i feel like i did something wrong but i have two other sons who eat everything. We have tried a lot of different ideas but he still is picky. We will keep trying and hope that disney will have some magic. Hope everyone's picky eaters eat better. Thanks

My GF is 45 and the pickiest eater on earth so she would eat a CS place before our ADR's and then go with us, sit and have a diet coke and just chill....non of the TS places we went to had any problems with that

Don't worry! We ( DH, sons- 13, 9 and 7 and daughter 5) had a successful trip in October. My 7 year old eats peanut butter, chicken nuggets, pizza , steakand an occasional apple. He eats bread and mashed potatoes as well

Anywho, for dinners, he did fine, stick to buffets if you can it was easier for him to find food there and we all had options. Le Cellier was good from the meat factor as far as sit downs.

Counter Service was a little tougher some places just had mac and cheese and pb and J ( he doesn't do the jelly). Look at the menus on All Ears, that will help you decide.

Good Luck!

Chef Mickey has different kinds of cereals and I believe waffles for breakfast.

Does he do pizza, that was on most of the menus? My picky one doesnt like pizza but will devour macncheese or chicken nuggets. He lived on that while we were there. Although I did get green beans in him at Garden Grill:thumbsup2

Could you take along the pb uncrustables only with you and pull one out for him if he doesnt like anything on the menu. I not sure though if a buffet would have to charge for him whether he ate or not.

I just go over menus and ask questions.

They can grow out of it! DD spent quite a bit of her pre-school years eating nothing but macaroni, dry cheerios, cheese and apples. That was it. When we went to WDW back then I carried food for her with us. Today she's 20 and eats almost anything. When she was little I tried everything to get her to eat, no dice. What worked for her was peer pressure and a boyfriend from a foodie family.

My son just turned 9 and he aslo has this problem. He will eat one kind of French Toast Sticks, Cheese Burgers, some Pizza but none that we have found at Disney and a few snack type things. It is very hard but now that he is a bit older the last time we went I didn't feel bad telling him that if there was nothing he would eat on the menu he would have to wait until after we ate, then we would find him somthing. I am trying to get the message across that we are not going to be totaly ruled by his eating habits.
I wish I would have been one of those moms that said , " it's this or nothing."
He is part his dad and it's part his PDD.

Ha!!! Picky eaters!!! I say not to worry and NEVER blame yourself. I have three daughters-33, 27, and 14. The oldest one ate anything I put in front of her, while the other two were VERY picky eaters. I figured-I am not going to fight this battle. My 27 year old started eating more by the time she was a teenager and by college, she ate anything. The youngest was my pickiest one of all-ate no meat until she was about 7 years old and never a vegetable touched those lips, or much else for that matter. I popped a vitamin in her mouth every day, and by now, she is actually eating like a normal person.

When we went to Disney with our youngest, I simply packed some food that she liked and took it with us-I did not plan to pay for a meal that she didn't eat. We took food with us to all of our meals, the server gave us a plate, and she ate. No problem.

Things do get better.

I have an extremely picky preschooler. Sometimes I wonder how she manages to live on how little she eats. The best bets for us were buffets. There was always something that she would eat. Also, have you checked out the menus yet? www.allearsnet.com has a very comprehensive listing of the menus. Review them with your son before you leave for your trip. If you want to go to a restaurant where there isn't anything he'll eat, then have him eat before you go.

Have you checked out the menus on WDWinfo.com? Might be useful to take a peek at those to help choose some CS & TS options ahead of time.

If you don't want to revolve all your meals around your son's choices, than I say pack some stuff to make PB&J or buy Uncrustables at the parks or resort stores (if he'll eat those. I love PB&J but I don't like Uncrustables at all)

Thanks for all the support. It definately makes me feel better knowing that I am not the only one going through this. Thanks for all the great ideas too!:rotfl: :rotfl:
