Anyone know if a very pickey adult could order from the chidren's menu at CRT at dinner? Or is there a way to include someone at our table who isn't eating without having to pay full price for them? My DS19 is the pickiest eater on the face of the planet, but I'd really like to celebrate my 25th anniversary there.

No. They will charge you based on number of people- not if you want to eat. You could want nothing and still get charged adult price.

Now, you might possibly be able to get a kids meal for him- but you'd be paying adult prices. If you're fine w/ that- then you can ask- and I'm pretty sure they'd accomodate. As long as you don't expect it to be kids price.

If you're sittin', you're payin'.

We had this occur at the Princess Breakfast in Norway at Epcot our last trip. Oldest DD and I were about 12 hours removed from the end of a nasty stomach bug. Not SICK anymore, at all (or we wouldn't have gone)...but not exactly eating in our normal weight classes (which with her is miniscule, anyway), either. She had some toast and, I think, some cereal. I stuck to some low acid fruit and yogurt? maybe.

We asked (pretty much knowing the answer) if there was a way we could pay a reduced rate since her and I would barely be eating, if at all. Nope. You sit, they charge you whatever price they're supposed to (kid or adult). Considering the reaction to meeting all the princesses (which, I think, singlehandedly got DD back into the Disney spirit), it was still worth it.

But now we have to go back....I wanna take a crack at those breakfast potatoes!

Congrats on your 25th!!!
I'd just make a reservation, and let the 19 year old ask for the children's menu if he prefers it. (Of course, pay the adult price.) Have a wonderful dinner together! :thumbsup2

True you pay no matter what (happened to me once when I had the stomach bug.) I can understand, people would be taking up tables of 6 with only the kids eating but so mom, dad and the grandparents could watch the interaction. But, we travel with a very picky grandpa, and at every restaurant he has been offered a hamburger, spaghetti, etc as long as they had it to offer. They are very accomodating. The castle is more limited, but I think if it is on the kids menu, they will likely let him order it but it will be at an adult price.

We ate at CRT this past Saturday and my DS12 was allowed to order from the kids' menu and it was a very small portion. He was still hungry after we left, but there was nothing he would consider ordering off the adult menu. And yes we did pay the adult price for his meal because of his age.

I am the queen of picky-ness - lol! I always get special orders at CRT. In fact, it's one of my favorites. I get the prime rib with regular mashed potatoes and the chicken noodle soup (an adult sized portion). They'll give him "grown up" portions of whatever he wants from the menu.

I've never had problems at any of the DW restaurants - it's part of why I love it so much there. FWIW - we've eaten at CRT, Garden Grill, 1900 PF, LeCellier, Akerhaus, Kona, CM, Liberty Tree Tavern, Plaza, Ohana (and probably many more I can't come up with off the top of my head). No one has ever blinked an eye when I've asked for something to be changed up.

I had never thought of it from this perspective, but I'm sure you're absolutely right. Then paying customers would NEVER be able to get a table.
Thanks, everyone, for your replies! :flower3: It's good to know he may at least have the option of chicken strips or mac and cheese....
It most definitely won't be easy paying $45 dollars for mac and cheese, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

Does he like beef and potatoes? The Domo (I can't think of the name of it), is really good.

Does he like beef? Only if it's grilled and between two buns.:rotfl:

and potatoes? Not even french fried! :confused3

I think that one sounds great! Mr. Pickey? not likely!

It really is good. It is very tender shredded beef with mashed poatoes and veggies. Mmmmmm.

ETA: Here is the write up about it.

Major Domo's Favorite Pie - shredded beef simmered in rich cabernet sauce, served with mashed potatoes, and sauteed vegetables, crowning a light pastry

LOL I wanted to do CRT's dinner so bad but couldnt find anyting on the menu to eat either :) I guess Ill have to look at the kids menu
