Trying to decide which AS resort would best suit my family. DD likes music, DS likes sports or movies. DH doesn't care but wants to "make sure it isn't a flea-bag".
For those who've stayed there, or at least checked them out, please vote for you fave. If you don't mind, please post about what makes it your favorite. Thanks!

Movies: theme, newer and bigger food court.

Some people don't like the All Stars because there is no full service restaurant. For us, that wasn't an issue, since we were always in a hurry to get somewhere and wanted to eat fast. LOL.

I think the rooms are decent and it's a great value. Definitely not a flea bag place. Our housekeeping staff even left little surprises everyday for our son... He brought his 2 stuffed dogs with him, and one day they were sitting in a chair looking out the window waiting for us. Another day they were sitting on the bed with the remote watching tv. It was great.

My only caution is to request a preferred room. These rooms are closer to the food court/transportation center/main pool, etc. We didn't have a preferred room in January at All Star Music, and it was about a 5 minute walk to the transportation center. On the last day, we discovered we were closer to the food court at All Star Movies!

We are booked for All StarMovies preferred for January. I hear it is supposed to have the best food court because it is the newest of the All Stars.

One last note - they have a small bar by the main pool. My son always fell asleep on the way home from the parks, so we would lay him down on a lounge chair by the pool and sit and enjoy a cocktail before returning to our room. It was a little odd, but a nice way to get some couple time and savor the day!

because it is newer, but I have been to Music and it is just as nice. My first stay at Movies was at Mighty Ducks Building, I thought I was in Sports! And those buildings are right next to the Music Food Court building, so we went there to get the bus. I like Movies because it is "The Last Resort" (except for AKL now) and I like the seclusion. I like the food court for breakfast on the way out, I haven't eaten any other meal there. The rooms are basic, 2 beds, one sink outside the toilet/bath tub room, shower gel and shampoo dispenser on the wall of the tub, these are no frill resorts, but for the price, they are a great value. There is enough drawer space for 2 adults and 2 kids, if you aren't heavy packers, and there is enough room to store your suitcases without them being in the way.And the busses are almost all specific to the resorts, no sharing unless really slow time.

I will be surprised if your poll doesn't come out with ASMo ahead.
Keep in mind a preferred *view* room costs an extra $10 a night.
When not paying for the preferred room, you can request a building, but there is no guarantee you will be assigned to your request.
They are all very interchangeable. The only difference seems to be which AS is next to you, and the theme.
ASMo is the fartherest from the main road. ASMu sits in the middle. ASSp is nearest the intersection that has McD on the corner.
Looking at the resort maps, you would think ASMu was laid out like a bowling alley. But to me even the fartherest back building is still closer than the walk to the main section that we had at CSR or POR.
ASMo seems to be the most popular of the three and does not always have the room rate discounts the other two do.

I voted for All Star Sports. My son was 9 years old when we stayed there and he loved sports. Movies seems to appeal to little kids.

After staying there, I'll always pick sports first. During our week long visit in August 2001, we took the buses every where. Sports was always picked up first. By the time we got to Movies the buses were packed. During that week the only time the bus didn't pick up all three resorts, was the morning we went to MK for EE.( I think each resort got their own bus that day). On Epcot's and MGM's EE day, the bus picked up at all 3 resorts.

I was able to get the $49 rate during our stay. Movies was full price.:(

I always stay at Sports, I have no kids, and take SOLO trips so this resort is very good for me.;) If you request building 10, you will not be charged extra, and you will be near the food court!;)

I just prefer ASMu because it's a tad quieter and also because DH is a musician and I thought he would enjoy the theming. We both really enjoyed our stay there in May of '01 and we will do it again next May if the money permits. :jester: I didn't care about not having a full service restaurant. DH and I ate in the parks a lot, it's one of the reasons why I go to Disney! :teeth: I enjoy scoping out other resorts too. Dinner at the AKL and breakfast at the GF was just too much to even talk about. :p
DH and I will always stay at the ASMu resort. We also really enjoy the Calypso Inn, but will take the Jazz now since Calypso is a preferred building. The extra $10 isn't really worth it considering the Jazz building is just as close to the food court and busses.

ASMu OR BUST MAY OF 2003!!! PIXIE DUST...PIXIE DUST....PIXIE DUST!!

I am sure all of the All Star resorts will be great. I picked Music because that is where we stayed. We were in the Calypso Bldg. and really enjoyed it. Very nice @ night. Comfortable and the Bus transportation was great. Enjoy!

I picked Music as my favorite. We've stayed at all three and our next trip will be at Sports again. I like music because it seems a little more adult feeling. Even if you have to walk to the back of the resort, its quieter back there, it's still not a long walk. Prefered buildings aren't woth the price. The three resorts are identical except for the theming and layout. If we can get a discount at one that is the one we go with.

We loved All Star Music. It was more adult oriented. However, wherever you stay at the All Stars will be fun. Never thought I would stay in a value resort, but it's worth it!!:smooth: :smooth:

We have stayed at Movies and Music and I do believe that I like Movies better because of the theming. :)
