We are staying at Saratoga Springs and our friend is staying at Port Orleans Riverside. We will have a car as we drive to the parks. We want to pick her up each morning as we head to the parks. Will we have any problem if we tell the guard we are there for a pick up and can provide our friends name and room number? Thank you

That's a "weeelll, maybe" given current conditions. I bet gate guards have heard every story why someone needs to come into a resort.

You've probably a better chance of it being allowed since she's not at an Epcot or monorail resort.

Not familiar with the exact layout of those resorts but can you friend meet you somewhere outside of the resort near the street so you don't have to drive past a guard shack? Resorts near MK or Epcot tend to limit free resort parking due to people trying to avoid paying to park.

Thank you. Hoping this will be allowed, not sure how it differs from someone being picked up by Lyft or Uber. We are 3 senior citizens and just want to make it easiest for her.

I think you Will be okay. I’d have her name/room number handy and if ur friend is able too, tell her to meet you at the front entrance where she originally walked thru to register/arrival. There are a few benches for her to sit and you’ll both be easily seen. ( it’s a lovely resort lol)
If she’s unable to or room not close to the Main Entrance ( under the overhang) you ll need to locate her room and spot one another in the parking lots which are large n a bit hectic ..
Best of luck and enjoy ur visit.

I don't think you'll have a problem since you can give her name and room number - and also because POR is not a near-park resort or a resort with Skyliner or monorail access, and people who are trying to cheat the system wouldn't be likely to try to park there. Be prepared to show photo ID for one of you - the guard may or may not ask for it.

Thanks all, we think this should work. Agree people don’t typically try to beat the system by parking at Riverside. We do love Riverside, stayed there many happy times before DVC. Still love the food court and walking around there too,

Have your friend get an extra room card and give it to you so you so you can use it on the auto gate. This way you do not have to go through the guest lane.

If you do end up picking up your friend, have her check over her resort folio/bill very closely on check-out for erroneous parking charges.

There is a discussion thread elsewhere on Disboards regarding guests being charged for parking when they had no vehicle parked. (My spouse and I were among the "victims.") A common thread among several having reported being wrongly charged was having had someone visit them or having something delivered to them. (We had a pharmacy order delivered.)

Speculation was that in the process of verifying the guest for whom a delivery/visit is being made, security CMs at the gate may, due to a system glitch, be inadvertently triggering a parking charge.

I do not know if this is true, but it wouldn't hurt for her to verify that she isn't wrongly charged for parking.

All good ideas, thanks. We will just have her give us one of her extra magic bands and we don’t even have to go through the guard line anyway.
