Pick up at DLH if not staying there?

Has anyone done this? It seems like a really handy place to get the transfer company to pick us up (having stored our luggage at the park storage facility). I know it's not a lot further to get them to pick us up at the station but it would be so much nicer to wait in luxury (possibily a drink in hand:rolleyes1).

Presumably there'd be no problem?

I can see where you're coming from but I'm not sure I'd do it ~ knowing my luck a super-attentive CM would spot the luggage and try and check me in!! :rotfl2: But if you feel comfortable doing it then go for it! :goodvibes

Thanks for replying Elaine, I was kinda hoping someone else had done this to reassure me. But there you go, I'll either have to slog it up to the train station or go buy myself a spine.

You can go for a drink in any hotel, you don't need to be a guest there so I don't see a problem with it to be honest.

Hi John

I don't see a logical problem myself - but being a total chicken (minus the feathers) I tend to seek reassurance from others just in case they've encountered some problem that my worrywart brain hasn't come up with...yet.

If it was just me I'd brazen it out, but I'm acting as tourguide for my sister and her family for the first time and want to make sure I minimise any possible causes of discomfort/embarrassment/tiredness etc etc etc.

Ooh, hope I didn't sound too negative as I didn't mean to. I was just assuming you'd be going up to the first floor to get a drink (I'm pretty sure there's nowhere you can get one on the ground floor but it's so long since I've been in there that I can't really remember) and thinking it would be such a faff to take your luggage up there and knowing my luck a CM would offer to assist me as I was entering the lift! :rotfl2:

Take no notice of me ~ you go for it :goodvibes although IMO it might be less hassle to skip the drink and wait on the ground floor.

We haven't done this but when visiting the DLH the other week (as you do when you can't afford to stay there but have a good look round :rotfl2:) there were people waiting in reception on the sofas with their luggage - we had to walk round them so thats how I spotted them. I can't see it would be a problem, although not sure what you could say if you were approached?. How about going there and collecting your luggage just before the transfer arrives rather than sit with it? is that an option?

Elaine, you didn't sound negative at all (well not to me anyway - and since I have skin you could spit through I think you're in the clear).

Although I have walked through the hotel (in a mad hysterical mission to check out the restaurant while the rest of our group went for a stroll) I hadn't realised at all that there was nowhere to get a drink on the ground floor (doh!).

Good to know (MummyMinnie), thanks.

I will check out the lay of land at the beginning of the holiday and confirm with the transfer company then. Don't know why I didn't think of that before - and save all you lovely people the bother of reading my neurotic meanderings.

Can't promise I won't do it again though!
