Pick a Weekend in Oct./Columbus Day Week

Need to pick a weekend next year for U in October (3 night, beginning on a Thursday or Friday).

IMO it doesn't really matter when staying onsite; i'm thinking HHN is a whole 'nuther story; would like to pick a night when it's "dead"

Trying to remember what the email said re AP special pre-party & if there are AP discounts.

Janet, if I recall correctly, the AP party was the first weekend (end of Sept this year), so that would be before Columbus day. Ask Todd if they 'typically' have something special for AP holders to 'kick off' HHN... if that matters, go with weekend before....OR coordinate w/ mac (uh-oh...maybe another meet )

thanks barb, i'm always up to meet the homies , especially if brews are involved.

i'm trying to gauge which weekend is "busier" @ Universal so I can send in the vacation request card for the more quiet one.

know it's really busy @ Disney the week following Columbus Day, was wondering if it holds true @ U?

did a quick browse thru old copy of KM's book, didn't see anything...wish there was an UG crowd calender type thing floating about for U too.

I voted for Columbus Day weekend.


The Thursday before Columbus Day was still value season (this year anyway), so you could get one night in value and the other nights in regular season.

Think both weekends eventually sold out due to HHN, so make sure you book fairly early.

Even though the hotels were sold out, it wasn't too bad at all. We were there the Sat before Columbus Day to the Sunday after, and neither weekend was bad.

Barb is right: the AP stuff was the last weekend in Sept this year. But, if I remember reading correctly, things didn't go so smoothly for those who attended.

WooHoo!! Lookit the hits on yer poll ...sorry, not funny Anyhow, yes, I had heard they had problems with the "opening nite" stuff for the AP holders....supposed to be good, but didn't have all the 'bugs' worked out I wouldn't worry about the crowds...with onsite privys, don't matter. I think Raven said Thursdays are less crowded than the Friday & Saturday crowds...I think you should knock yer head together with Raven and get her opinion....her and Todd are the "experts" when it comes to HHN....

That's because a lot of people come here looking for info....there are tons of peeps over "there" and a lot of opinions to go with it Let's face it, we're just not AS popular over here.....

It just more esoteric here , a rarified bunch...quality not quanity.

All conditioned upon actually getting the vac request, we're going to shoot for U the weekend after Columbus Day. In '06 Disney was really only bad on the actual weekend & again near the end of the week.

Even though I'd prefer to visit U 1st (beginning on Thursday to hope for better airfare-although i don't know if any was available on SW due to Columbus Day holiday anyway?); we'll probably hit WDW 1st on a Sunday then bop on over to U. Thurs or Friday. not sure if DH would be thrilled with taking 2 weeks of vacation again, likes to spread his 4 weeks around & we're already using 2 in June.

1st trip we did U 1st & got so spoiled by FOTL it was hard to suck it up @ WDW.
