Today was filled with anticipation, after 13 yrs of thinking about it we were finally going to visit Universal. We woke up at 8am and left the hotel quarter till 9. Universal was the farthest theme park from the hotel, approximately 20-25 minutes. We reached the parking lot and really liked the covered parking and easy access to the park via the moving walkways. We reached security and I kept walking towards citywalk when I realized the rest of my family wasn´t with me. My mom had problems with her legs aching since yesterday´s visit to SW so my dad decided to rent a wheelchair for her so they had stopped to rent it. We arrived to Citywalk at 9:26 and our first day was in Universal Studios so once we reached the Resort Directory we headed right.
Once we got to the entrance to US, my sister and I went to one of the kiosks in order to exchange our tickets. Unfortunately the automated kiosks were you slide the credit card used for purchase and enter your reservation number didn´t work so we had to go to guest services and after 20 minutes we received our Universal Passes, our HP commemorative tickets, our three broomsticks breakfast passes and our citywalk club to club access (which we didn´t use at all.)
We were finally ready to start and our first stop was Shrek 4D, we waited in line for 25 minutes and really liked that in the line there were fans and mist that helped cool people down (we loved that most rides had this in the lines to help cool people off while waiting). We enjoyed the decor around the line and the preshow room display. We thought the show was really good and had great effects.
Next we headed towards Twister, we passed HRRR (don´t know why but my sister didn´t want to ride it) and then the Monsters Cafe (closed).
We thought twister was just ok and we were glad we only had to wait 10 minutes (even though posted time was 15). The “show” itself was a little short and all the effects and things happening were not very visible at times from where we were.
After Twister it was time to ride what we had read was the best ride at US, Revenge of the Mummy. We headed toward the ride and I have to tell you I love how spacious US is and the street décor makes you feel in a real city.
A history lesson
Let me tell you even though I read comments about the ride we weren´t expecting it to be so hard, lol. As I´ve told you a don´t like roller coasters and thought that Mummy was a mild roller coaster but boy was I wrong, LOL. My head went from side to side and even though I have ridden other roller coasters before I thought this one was the hardest on my body. On a side note I want to tell you I was really really close to losing my sunglasses, I had them hanging from my shirt and right at the end when the cart gains speed again before the end (where they take the ride pics) it flew straight up and I don´t know how I was able to knock them down with my hand making them fall at my feet. Once we exited the ride we had to buy the pic as it is priceless. My sister and my dad look calm in the pic, my mom that hates roller coasters (we convinced her to ride it, BAD IDEA!! lol) is just screaming and I´m holding tight to the cart but the great part is my sunglasses were flying in front of me so the pic was taken milliseconds before I knocked them down!
We then passed Beetlejuice´s Graveyard Revue and headed toward Disaster. We liked the show very much and were amazed by Cristopher Waken´s projection as he looked really real. The show was fun and the train sequence was very enjoyable. The Mutha Nature trailer was really funny.
After Disaster we were approaching 1pm so we decided to have lunch, so we backpedaled a bit so we could eat at Louie´s Italian Restaurant. We really liked the food, my dad ate some minestrone and a Caesar salad while the rest of us shared a pepperoni pizza.
