That is for one half hour private lesson a week for any instrument or voice. My daughter's lessons are on Wednesdays. If the month has four Wednesdays it comes to $17/half hour. If there are five Wednesdays in a month it is a bonus. Books, other materials, competition fees, etc. are minimal.
okay...then I guess ours is right there with the rest of y'all. the teacher we talked to yesterday told us it would be $65 a month...honestly I ALMOST fell out...'cause it wasn't but just about 5 yrs ago I was just paying $35 a month...but we're in a new town...I wasn't sure if the price was from inflation or 'cause this teacher has to pay a fee to the place she teaches OR if it's 'cause of who she is (the local school music teacher)...
I was thinking twice about $65 a month...dd takes group violin lessons & that's $300 a year - so more like $40 a month - of course I know its cheaper 'cause its group (5 kids for 1 hour) I just wasn't expecting private piano to be so high.
And I thought ballet & softball & soccer were expensive!
I pay $98 a month for one weekly half hour lesson. The person comes to our home though. We bought a piano just so we didn't have to travel to yet another activity.
I guess we are really lucky. We take lessons from an extremely talented young woman we attend church with. She is only in 10th grade and has been playing the organ/piano at church for years and has also accompanied the middle and high school chorus' for a few years. She has recently increased her fee to a whopping $7.50/half hour lesson. She uses her income mostly to pay for her supplies and lessons for herself.
