I read multiple posts about the changes or demise of Pleasure Island. My father and I usually like to end the night with a couple of drinks at either PI or Jellyrolls, or the hotel bar. I've read that the stage is being demolished, but then read in a newsletter that certain bands are scheduled to play there in august/Sept. I've read of all the stores being closed, along with some clubs. We usually go to the Rock and Roll Beachclub, but might try AC next time. So, does anyone have any idea what PI will look like in 5 months?

I'm sorry that I don't hav anything to write about, but I had to respond to your title "Pi." I thought you wanted to talk about math. I teach math. Time to go to bed.

Does anyone know whether Comedy Warehouse is still at Pleasure Island?

It was as of last Saturday. So was the Adventurer's Club. The stage was closed, had a big wall around it. Couldn't see if they were doing work or not though. Sorry I can't be of more help!

This is the plan from Jim Hill's site
The latest rumour is the stage will be removed to open up that end of the island and it should flow into the West Wide. I think a new stage will be built but it will be much smaller. The small side stage down by the RRBC will be removed to add water front access. The fate of the comedy club and Adventurers Club is uncertain. The plan, although not officially released, seems to turn the area more into City Walk with Disney collecting rent from other companies and not worring about running a restaurant. This is not a new idea since Fulton's, Portabella, Planet Hollywood and the West Side but it is new to PI with the opening on Ranglen Road this year and the now closed White Horse Saloon.
I already miss the fact that PI is no longer a gated area. I will miss PI but the idea of an adults only area at WDW no longer fits into the Disney way. :confused3

We loved going to the Comedy Warehouse and the Adventurers Club. It was a great way for us to get a break from the kids. I'll miss it if it goes.

As of yet - there are no plans for the destruction of either place. However, the rest is true about the WES and HUB stage.

I thought the same thing.

Please don't put words into my post. You said "destruction" not me.

This is what I found on Screamscape.com and I think they put it in perspective.

"While the general business concept of keeping them as long as they are making money could keep them alive for years to come, Disney may be more inclined to sign these locations over to outside developers instead who would shoulder the risk of new development concepts allowing Disney to just collect the rent. The future of these attractions may lie on the level of success found by the new tenants on the way in."

I think given the current projects it looks like we will see more changes. Removing the turnstiles allows Disney to entice more developers into the PI area by increasing the size of the customer base. No more New Years Eve every night.
It seems clear to me that more changes are on the way. The best way to keep these clubs is to visit often and open your wallet.
Remember BET took over the Neon Armadillo years ago, it is not a far out notion that these two clubs, given the fact they are performance driven, may have a high running cost. They may keep the buildings but turn them over to someone else.

I am getting the impression from reading these many posts about PI that it may be "opening up" to everyone in the near future. My question is did I waste money purchasing the passes to enter Pleasure Island for adults only, adding them to our package in December 06 for 45 dollars per person or will this still be a "pay to play" area for adults?
I am really having second thoughts about keeping these passes I bought if the comedy club especially will be gone. There is no point for us to spend the extra money for admission to an area we might not want to be in anymore later in the evening. I could just as well buy drinks elsewhere throughout the parks where it is served such as Epcot with all the different countries to visit. My wife and I really love the comedy club at PI and I can't see spending the money for us if it won't be there. We don't need to pay admission to an area just to buy drinks because we are not "club" people.
I will read on as these threads come and go on the fate of Pleasure Island. Hopefully someone can clear this up instead of hearing all these differing ideas of what's changing there. We love the atmosphere and the New Years eve party every night was a lot of fun, but we didn't care for the club scene in the other places Pleasure Island offered. The Comedy Club fits us perfect. I hope they don't change anything and it is the same way it was the last time we were there in 2001. It's those memories of the place that make us return. When things change it's just never the same.

Spectro - I quote your post? No, I didn't. Thanks. I wasn't reffering to a specific post - but just speaking in general as I know AC and CW are the more favorite clubs among Dis'ers.

wecroozin - I can't say for sure, as I know there may be ticketing changes for Pleasure Island - but as of this moment, that may not be the best deal. Pleasure Island runs $22.32 for a one night, but for $5, you can make that ticket a 5 day ticket ( for a total of $27.32 ) per person. Now, if you planned on going to the water parks, and using the "FUN" pack at BOTH the water parks and Pleasure Island, you may save some money depending on your plans. It just depends on how and where you use your tickets.

Just make sure that everyone in your group that plans on going to Pleasure Island is 21+.

This is not referring to my post???????

Sorry I was mistaken. (insert sarcastic eye rolling ) :rolleyes1

I have a premium AP so I have not paid for PI in quite some time. You bring up a good point. If PI is now only a cover charge per club how would it effect ticketing? At this point it doesn't because the clubs are still under Disney control. However if PI gets loaded up with outside vendors each wanting to charge their own cover and at their own rate things would get complicated.
I think that this would make a single price to get into all the clubs logistically impossible. I guess we will have to wait and see.
