Photoshop question

Yesterday I did a virus scan and I worked on a few pictures then I restarted the computer after that since I was not going to be working on it for a few hours again. It didn't tell me to restart, but I often will do that afterwards just in case. Most days my computer is on 24/7.

After that I left the computer for a few hours and later came back to work on some more pictures. The weird thing is all my photoshop presets were gone. I had to reset everything from scratch and even my actions are gone. Is there a way to retrieve this? And why did it do such a thing? I have run virus scans many times and never had this issue, so I don't think that is it Especially since I am sure I edited a few pictures before turning it off.

How about a system restore from a few days ago?

I did think about that. I think I got everything set back up...but it's more of the question why it did this....I guess I better copy all my settings for anything in the future...or like you said do a system restore if it happens again.

Oh, it looks like by doing this I reset everything again to default...which I don't want to do. it did that on it's own.

Just to be clear, when I said "System Restore" I meant the one built into windows that restores personal settings and programs, NOT the restore done by putting in the CD's that came with the computer. That will re-install your operating system. You probably don't want to wipe the drive clean and start over from scratch (Like the day you first brought the computer home) :sad2:

Oh..I don't know what that is...The one I do on my laptop allows me to go back a few days and thats what I have done there. What is the windows one...or are we talking the same thing

Do you have multiple log-in names on your computer? The history and preference files are stored in a unique directory for each user.
