Looking for reviews and advice. I want to get a good photo editing software and am torn between PhotoShop Elements 8 ($69.99) and PaintShop Photo Pro X3 ($59.99).

The prices are similar but I can't tell from the websites which one has the best features. I would use it for digital scrapbooking, editing photos and for making fun designs for t-shirts etc. I also would possibly print some photos for display at home and school.

What programs do you all use and what are the best features?

I use photoshop elements and LOVE it!!! The nice thing about PSE is there are lots of video tutorials out there that walk you through step by step how to do things like name fills. You can find lots of them on youtube.com. There is also another website www.elementsvillage.com that is a website similar to the DISBoards that offers help, advice, ideas, etc. for elements.

Hope that helps a little. :goodvibes

I always will recommend a photoshop program over PSP. I used PSP for many many years and now I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and you couldn't pay me to go back to PSP. Photoshop is much more powerful. :)

If you're comparing Elements with PSP, you'll find that they pretty much have the same features. Each may have a few features the other doesn't, and you may achieve results in differnet ways, but they both have similar capabilities. You need to choose one or the other and then spend the time to learn how to perform the tasks with that product.
There are probably more Elemets users than PSP which means there are probably more tutorials on-line, but they are out there for PSP also. Elements does have a high-end version that is much more expensive, which PSP does not. If that is an option in the future, you would be better off starting with Elements.
I've used PSP for years, but seem to keep getting Elements free. It comes with scanners, cameras, and other things I've purchased over the years. I've looked at the screen, but don't want to get into it because then I'll really confuse myself if I was to go back and forth.

I have both and I use PSE for all my DISigns but I use PSPx3 for all my work with my photos. My slide scanner automatically loads anything I scan to PSP and it does amazing work on cleaning up slides 40 years old and even 60 years old!!

I have used PS for years and used PSP for a while. IMO PS is way better and it's not even close. So my vote goes to PS.
