Anyone else mess around with PS?

mess around with it???? i had a hard time just figureing out how to use it period :confused3 . i tried the free trial and gave up but got a video professor tutor so if i buy it hopefully i can figure it out..maybe someday i too will be able put my kids in a bottle :lmao:

what version do you have? i was planning on the elements 4 i think but wonder how much different it is from cs( think that's right) but figure it is probably fine for the average user

I have CS2.

There's definitely a steep learning curve; but once you get the hang of it, it's a snap. There's a good book called "The Photoshop CS2 Bible", big yellow book, will teach you everything you'll need to know to get up and running.

Personally, I wouldn't use anything else (until CS3 comes out of course ;) ).

I have Photoshop Elements 4.0 and I love it, but my one word of advice would be to get a manual in addition to the one that comes with the program. I have yet to purchase another one, but I can tell you that the proprietary book is only fair. I have successfully cropped and created slide shows, but with a lot of trial and error, and I know that the program is far superior to what I am able to do with it. It's not a very expensive program, usually around $75, so I would highly recommend getting it and fooling around with it a bit. It's fun, and for me occasionally :yay: successful!!!

Cool... "capture"? Don't forget to add a stick and some grass. Maybe a leaf too.

Nice job on the shop-ing!

I would hold of on a purchase of CS2. Elements 4 will do almost everything. I had elements 2 and there was a book and cd available that unlocked even more features.

many people have complained about what a system hog CS2 is. Adobe is thinking of splitting up the photoraphy editing from the graphics editing because the program is getting huge. So you could wait and the photog part might be cheaper, or get it now if you want both. Surely the two split programs will cost more..

I've been thinking of buying either PS Elements 4.0 or Microsoft Digital Image and leaning toward the latter, due to its apparent relative ease of use, compared to PS. Does anyone have any experience with the MS product?

IF you want ease of use, both of them are easy to use. Whereas with PSE4 you will have room to grow, buy plugin etc. Not so with the MS program.

I've just grown used to using PS CS2. That and I have a few thousand plug-ins for it. I don't think I could use anything less. Although I would like to try PSE4 and see what the difference is. For small minor stuff I just use MS Photo Editor that comes with MS Office (because it takes a good 3-5 mins for PS to load up with all the PIs).
