photoshop help

Hi, I have Photoshop Elements 7 and I am trying to edit a couple of photos I took at my sisters wedding.
I hope someone can walk me through how to make the edges of the photo just like this photo. I love how the edge of this photo is smoky black.

1. Open your photo and go to Select>All (ctrl-A (PC)).

2. Create a new layer, shift-crtl-N (PC)

3. Go to Edit>Stroke select a size based on the size of your picture (I did 10 pixels for a 500 x 300px picture), select black as your color, and select Inside for location. Leave all other settings the same.

4. Goto Select>Deselect.

4. Goto Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and adjust the slider unitl you get the desired effect. Click OK.

Now, if I may ask another question. How can I get my photo to look crisp like the one is my first post.

By crisp I assume you are talking about the high contrast. Without seeing the original picture I can only guess but I think it's an adjustment layer. Try this:

1. Click on the layer with the original image.

2. If the original image has a lot of color then go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue/Saturation. Slide the saturation slider to the left to about -40.

3. Got Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Levels. Push the black slider in to around 25 and the white slider in to 230.

4. At the top of the layers palette click on the Create Adjustment Layer icon (1/2 white, 1/2 black circle) and choose solid color. Pick a warm rust/brown color.

5. Change the blend mode to Overlay and change the opacity to 50%.

You will probably have to experiment with the saturation, color, opacity and contrast to get what you want.
