I'm travelling solo for the first time (long trip from the UK!). I am feeling good about it now, having planned days/meals etc and written my shopping list!;)

My one worry (how sad) is that I would like my photo taken with some WDW characters but don't know how - would a CM do it for me ? Will people stare? Is it only kids that have their photos taken? :confused3

thanks for your advice

Linda

OMG, people won't stare, I see it all the time. And yes a CM will take the picture for you, not a problem. I've even seen other guests do it too, I've done it for other people myself. If you want, you can take the photopass and have all your pictures put on a cd and then just buy the cd... that's also an option. I love their pictures, you can have a picture taken at night in front of the castle, it's beautiful... the photopass photographers are everywhere, with characters, in special locations.... Enjoy your trip and have fun.

My Dh (30) and myself (25) just returned home from WDW a few weeks ago. As Chevynat mentioned, you will be able to have photopass photographers take pictures of you. There are located at various points in the park (ie. in front of the castle, along Main Street, etc etc etc.) They give you a 'credit card', and whenever you see one of them, you go up to them and ask them to take your picture, they will add the pictures to your card and then when you return home you can go online, add borders, signatures, etc to them. If you prepurchase before you leave, you will save 20% and only pay $100 for all the pics they take of you burned onto a CD. If you want to have pictures taken with some of the characters, just take a look on each of the parks maps for the character meet and greets icon. Generally, they will have a photopass photographer at each of them that will take your picture with the characters. As well, if you give them your camera, they will take one on your camera. We didn't do this because we perpurchased the cd and having them take pics with your camera when you're going to buy the cd just slows the line up for others when it's busy. Have fun with all the characters and make sure you go to Mickey's ToonTown. You will get lots of character pictures there (Mickey, Pluto, Donald, Goofy, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle) plus next door Mickey and Minnie. Have fun!

Oh. Forget to mention not to worry about people staring. No one will! I felt that way in the beginning but realized at Disney - Everyone is a kid. There is no shame or embarassment in that. And we took lots of pics with characters. Have fun and relax, you'll enjoy yourself immensely.

When I was at WDW my DW and I were acting like children...I'm 29. I was litteraly running through the carnival at Animal Kingdom screaming at the top of my lungs along with my DW. No one stared, they giggled, and pretty much were doing the same!!!pirate:

Don't worry about people staring. I used to but then I learned-I hate to break it to you, but you're not that important, to other people at least. They've got lots of other things more important to them to look at-like the characters, their kids. If you're in a line to see the characters, there's no problem with the CM taking your picture. If you're at a character meal, here's a tip I learned on my last solo trip quite by accident. Just say to the character (in my case, it was Goofy) "I really wish I could get a picture with you." Goofy grabbed my camera off the table, and handed it to the guy at the next table. I also did this with Minnie.

Definitely get your picture taken with the characters!!!!! Either ask a CM or do the photopass!

My DH golfs so I do the character meet n greets solo all of the time (I'm a very young 50!!!). I get the autographs too. There is almost always a CM there who will take the photos for you. If there isn't, ask the person behind you in line to snap the picture. I've never had any problems getting someone to do that. Have a great time with it.

Oh I am planning too. I am going with my best friend but we are so doing the characters whether she likes it or not.

I do it all of the time! The CM Handlers are always willing to do this.

Sometimes people will look at a 55yo man standing in line to have his photo taken with Cinderella (and others) but it really is cool.

Hi there,
You should definately get your photo taken. Dh and I get ours done all the time, and we usually ask the cm to take a photo of us together... or if there is a photopass person, he/she will always take it for you too!
Have fun with the characters... they are there for everyone... ENJOY :)

I agree with all above: You can have a Photopass photographer take a photo of you with your camera; you can purchase either a Photopass photo (individually) or Photopass CD; or you can ask a kind stranger to take your picture - all will work. Don't be shy - just have lots of fun!

...Just be weary of mischievous chipmunks on the loose… they have a tendency to cause chaos to your perfectly immaculate day and you won’t have anyone else there with you to rescue you when you fall victim to their kisses, marriage proposals, kidnapping attempts, and just simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time as they fist fight over your head and use you as a tug-of –rope.

I just returned yesterday from a solo trip. I had not planned to get photos with the characters but once I was there, it seemed like the natural thing to do. There was always a CM available to take my picture. I happily chatted with families in line while waiting. So my advice is--go for it!!!

I love getting my picture taken with the character, and that's rare coming from me. I don't like getting my picture taken at all, at all, and when I walk through those gates, it just seems like all predispositions are gone. So I say, GO FOR IT! No one minds, just make sure you hit the Judges Tent in right off the railway though, you'll be sure to run into someone there. :)

Absolutely get your pix taken. The characters are great & such fun to interact with!

CM's are always willing to snap a shot for you.

And another suggestion, look for a couple & offer to swap pix taking.
DH & I do this when ever we can, it is great because we get pictures w/both of us in it. Sooo many of our pictures are of him or me, so getting some w/both of us is much appriciated!

My goal my last trip was to get my picture taken with Mickey Mouse. My husband didn't want to get his picture taken with any character. He thought that he was taking time away from some childs time with the charaters, but when he saw Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger at Chrystal Palace he was all smiles in those pictures. They were his favorite characters as a child. After that he was much more willing to have his picture taken.:)

We used photopass a lot, but we didn't have a problem when we asked a CM to take our picture.

The photopass CMs took our pictures both for photopass and with my camera. They don't mind at all. And it is my opinion that anyone can get a pic taken with the characters! That's the fun of being at Disney! It doesn't matter how old you are!

Have a great time. When are you going to be there?
