Photos to music

I'm new to this area, but as my interest in photography grows, I think I'll be around here more often!

I have a quick question....

I want to put some of our Disney photos to music and put on them on a DVD to give to Grandma for Chrsitmas. She has gone on a few of our trips and I thought this would be a nice gift for her. I will use the software for other projects too, but this is the big project I have in mind right now.

I need some advice on what kind of software I need. Basically, I want to be able to put the photos to music of my choice and be able to fade in/out of pics, etc.

Any recommendations would be great!

there are lots of programs that make slide shows with music - Nero, Photodex "ProShow Gold", - the latest version of google's Picasa does it for free
but I have a suggestion -
look at a digital photo frames for Christmas - my 85 year old mother loves it better than the DVD picture slide shows I made for her

I use "Memories on TV" and I can use any music I choose, but I agree with the digital photo frame. Some of them play music that you download and you could eaily use Wishes or Spectromagic music. She would love it!

I just did a DVD like that for my mom using the Windows movie maker thing that came installed on the computer as part of Vista.

If you know someone with a mac, Iphoto does a wonderful job!

But I agree with the digital picture frame as a great idea also!

Agreed, but iMovie does an even better job.

However, they are a bit limited on transition effects. I'm looking for a program I can use on Mac with more transition options.

I use Windows DVD Maker. It is super easy! I used it to make dvd's of photo's to music for my sons baseball coaches as their coaches gifts.
