Gee... I wonder why the abandoned this? It looks really good to me. :thumbsup2

Here's one reason:

"Los Angeles, Dec. 15 -- Walt Disney, who built his whimsical cartoon world of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs into a -million-a-year entertainment empire, died in St. Joseph's Hospital here this morning. He was 65 years old."

Frank - that photo was the EIGHTH version of the master plan? do you have any of the others?

Off the top of my Mickey ears, I'd have to say no. I'll look thru my stuff later tonight and see. :surfweb:
I have seen one other early plan that showed extending Seven Seas Lagoon west between the then proposed Asian Hotel and MK. The lagoon would have gone beyond the golf courses. If you look at the monorail beam in this area you'll notice it rises up, possibly allowing for large watercraft access. Maybe they were just keeping their options open. :boat:

OK. I lied. pirate:

Here's the Tenth Master Plan. Notice the Seven Seas Lagoon, which extends all the way to the Golf Resort. Resorts on the north side of the lagoon would have been one possible use of this area. Also note the DTD/SSR area is labeled "Proposed Residential Community", which was the intended use of that area. The original Celebration.

Undated plan showing the monorail route for the first five resorts.
Some differences: the large bay to the left of the Poly; the "Trailer and Camp Area" at the present site of the WL; the non-symmetrical CR Bay Wings, and what appears to be a building across the monorail from the main CR Tower; to the left of the Rivers of America is a large water area which would have been the service facility for water craft. That facility is now where the Persian Resort would have been; and what appears to be a monorail station in Tomorrowland. :thumbsup2

A more artistic rendering of the eighth plan:

Magic Kingdom mock-up. The view is from BTMRR towards Frontierland. The mass in the lower right hand corner is Big Thunder Mesa/Western Rivers Expedition. Also notice the model of the Contemporary in the background.

I figured this was a thred I should post to (like my username?)

The maps featuring the Asian, Venetian, and Persian Reorts were in both the Poly and the Contemporary and they were on the wall over the day beds.

One of these can still be seen in person at the bathrooms in the Comedy Warehouse. I bought mine on ebay in 1999 for $360 or so. Havent seen one sell since except someone listing it at 10 grand or something ridiculous.
