Photos of the construction at Downtown Disney

We experienced it live this past May - what a mess. Talk about tight walking spaces. I am sure it will be fabulous once it all opens up - but I can't imagine those walkways in the heat with the summer crowds.

Ugh. All of this is making me nervous. lol. We had planned to visit Downtown one night during our trip for dinner & shopping (well, I will shop while the MR takes my 7yr daughter to Disney Quest)...

Wondering if we should scrap that idea, or just go and try to avoid the mess...

I really hope come mid 2015, a lot of this is cleaned up by then and DTD/Springs looks more visually appealing and less confusing to navigate through.

We were down there today. It wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. Parking is going to be annoying but just park across the street and walk instead of fighting for a spot like its Black Friday. Walking around itself seriously wasnt bothersome even in the heat and being due in a week with baby #3.

Is there any projected date range for when this is due to be complete, or atleast not so many construction walls up? It seems like everything is covered up but I'm sure it feels different in person, hopefully lol.

We were planning in sept to make a quick stop there to eat at WP express and do the Xmas shop, now when I look at these pictures, I wonder if it's worth it. Is that area totally different looking now?

It seems all that is to see are construction walls? Or are there open spaces still??

What a mess. I think Disney could have handled this better especially the parking situation.

It is a mess. West Side and Marketplace aren't too bad, but the whole middle section is just construction walls and cattle shoots. It it is really narrow, congested, hot and all you see is walls. We didn't have many issues with parking but it definitely is not "magical". The concept art posted on the walls though makes the finished product look amazing, so hopefully it is worth it :thumbsup2

Does anyone know- if we are planning for nov 2015, will most of this mess be "less of a mess" lol? I noticed someone mentioned 2016, but how much of this mess/walls will come down do ya think by nov or atleast the fall of 2015? Any guesses ?

We got to see all of this last month. We ate at WPE and Marketplace wasn't crowded at all. But as we made our way further, it was shoulder to shoulder person. So instead of fighting the crowd, we hopped on the boat and sailed to POR and caught a bus back to our resort.

Its a mess, those pictures dont tell the story. In the afternoons its jammed packed with people. The cattle shoot analogy is a good one. And the 1.5 hour bus ride to POFQ was real nice, the boats were shutdown due to rain.

We were there the first week of May and I took a few pictures. I give them "credit" for the planters and the artist's renderings of what will be there eventually, but I found it mostly discouraging and sad. We lived down there for over 5 years and went regularly to Downtown Disney even when we didn't want to spend time (or didn't have a day) at the parks. We always enjoyed the Markeplace area and occasionally ventured further toward the West Side.
The barriers shown around Rainforest weren't there when we were there. The first thing I noticed when we went looking for a place to sit along the water and have our ice cream was that the boats were gone. I thought it was something temporary.
Honestly I'd have a hard time picturing what is supposed to be there eventually. Not likely I'll see it. And I surely can't imagine Buena Vista being 10 lanes. I don't care how many of those lanes are devoted to buses. Yikes.
:confused3
