Photos of new AB rooms?

We will be staying at POR and have requested AB location due to the need for a trundle bed. This is the one resort I've never wanted to stay at - never say never!

I am very concerned that AB rooms are very dark and in serious need of refurbishment. A CM there did recommend a refurbished building to request, but I am still worried it will be very dark.

Hoping someone has photos of the new rooms and/or has stayed in one and can tell me your experience, please? Will be one adult and 11 and 12 yr olds (boy and girl).

I don't have any pictures as it's been a few years since our last visit, but I dont' remember the rooms being overly dark. Of course, we were only there in the morning and in the evening. I loved the theming to this side of the resort! It's so country...so Tom Sawyer. I find that the rooms in the mansion section look no different from any Marriott or Hilton I've stayed at. I know how you feel though... DH & I stayed at ASMo last trip due to budget issues... and I DREADED it!! I was afraid it was SOOOO tacky and overrun with kids that I'd want to scream! We loved it! It's not nearly as tacky in real life as it seems in pictures.

Have a great time!! We'll be staying in AB with friends in October!

Why do you need a trundle with only three people. Can none of you sleep together? I have stayed in these rooms many times and they are not dark at all. Besides, if they were dark i dont think you will be tripping over anyone with only three people

I can also confirm that the rooms are not dark. I've stayed in the AB section twice before the rehab and didn't even have a corner room. There is plenty of light. The thought never crossed my mind that it might be dark in the room.

We were there at Christmas. It was gloomy and downpoured our first day there. We didn't see many sunny days. I don't think we were in a refurbished room. I believe the bed covers and curtains were new. It is my understanding that the outlying buildings in AB were the renovated bldgs.

The area has a great deal of landscaping and many trees, unlike the values which are "wide open". That and the fact that there is a covered walkway along the room may make it seem a little dark, but not enough so that it should prevent you from enjoying POR. The wood cabinetry is of a dark stain as well. If you're really concerned, go for the mansions. The landscape there is much more open. I am very contemporary in decor and like light, airy, minimalist everything.

I'd be more concerned about getting a clean room if I were you. We had complaints with the housekeeping. Personally, I would want new beds and bathtub.

Nope, we cannot sleep together - if that were not an issue I'd not be requesting AB It so happens that the siblings do not sleep together and the 12 yr old has always been a sleeper who winds up across the bed - so it is not easy for an adult to share the bed with her.

As far as the darkness of the room, I need light due to an eye problem and if the room is already kind of dark it will be like having very dark sunglasses on all the time.

I hope that I can help out a little. We were just there last month and stayed in the AB section 27. GREAT LOCATION!! We did have a corner room that we absolutely LOVED!! It had been renovated and everything was clean and fresh. The only time it was dark was if you pulled the curtains at night!! We loved the corner room because it had two windows. I'm from Michigan, so in January I am in desperate need of all the sunshine I can get!!

I would not hesitate to stay at this resort again!! We were very happy!! Let me know if I can answer any other questions!!

You are an angel!! That is exactly the building we requested!! How was the walk to the food court, please? Also requested a corner room (due to eye problems for extra light) and non-smoking for medical reasons, so if we are fortunate enough to get that location it sounds wondeful!!

Here's a picture - we didn't find it dark, I'm not sure the trundle bed is big enough for an 11 Year old though - but to be fair, we didn't use it so I don't know, it just looked small to me

We were there last week and was in building 27.loved it.close to everything.main pool,main building,food court and main(south)bus stop.my two girls (10 yrs.old)took turns sleeping on the trundle and loved it.i asked for a corner room which we sorta got,but it only had one window.i would request at check in that you need a corner room with 2 windows.everything in room was new,even the smell."new room smell".

We were just there in June and stayed in Bldg 18. Very good location, close to the main bus stop, food court and Ole Man Island. The only thing is that part of the building is smoking. I have to have non-smoking as I have asthma. I would have asked to be switched but never noticed any smell of smoke so it wasn't a problem.

Our room was renovated also and I didn't think it was dark at all. If you're concerned about it being dark, why don't you request a corner room as they have 2 windows. That would let in more light. However, we didn't usually leave our curtains open as people walking by could see into our room then.

It is my understanding that all of the renovations have been completed in AB now.
