Photos of Escape Cakes?

I was wondering what the cakes look like that are included in the Escape package. Are you allowed any choices or or is just one kind they offer?
Anyone have a photo to share?

The cake is the two tiered one pictured in the wishbook. There have been escape brides that have had it altered some with color others with design- not sure about any additional costs involved though. I am sure someone will have a picture for you and additional info

There are several flavors to choose from, mine was yellow cake with chocolate mousse filling.

I paid $50 to have mine made at the Grand Floridian bakery and then transported to Sunset Point because they were the only ones that made the design that I wanted. Here is mine:

No that is the standard cake for Sunset Pointe.
I tried to get it so that I could have a different design for my wedding cake & I was not allowed to have another cake as my planner said it had to be this, nothing else. Dmslush obviously was allowed to by her planner. Just another example of the inconsistancy of Disney Weddings...as I argued for a month to try to get a cake change and wasn't allowed. This is why we got a groom's cake in the end so we could at least have something we wanted as we weren't fans of the basic design.

The cake is a basic 2 tier cake as the others have posted. You do have a choice in the "topper"; Mickey and Minnie are standard, the White Chocolate Castle is extra (I think about $50, but I could be wrong).

The top tier is about 6" around and the bottom tier is about 10".

I believe that you can request a "color scheme" if that is important to you (i.e. you can request all white frosting, or some color to "match" your floral/dresses) but other than that, the basic decoration style is determined by the chef. I believe it's Disney's way of making sure each cake is truly unique, and keeping the elements of the Escape package as consistent as possible.

Whether or not a request is granted can be up to the planner, but it also may be up to the chef/bakery, weather and ceremony location can also be a factor.

Well at first I had Jennifer O'Leary who told me I couldn't do it and when I got Kathleen, I asked again and was told no.

I'm kinda annoyed about it all, especially since my cake they gave me didn't have the filling I listed, but there isn't anything I can do now about that...plus the top layer of the cake was destroyed by Wilderness Lodge anyway.

Its alright - i just wished they didn't tell brides different things as I made it clear I had no problems with an additional charge. Jennifer was trying to get me to go to the Wedding Pavillion instead so I could get the cake I wanted and I made it clear that was not an option as I loved Sunset Pointe.

Basically, you are not supposed to have input on the design, only the flavor and filling. That is supposed to make it easier for the Escape bride not having to plan so much. I have seen a variety of different designs that the chef's come up with...free of charge, but that is IF you let them come up with the idea. For the basic, included, it does seem like each bakery has a basic style they tend to go with. If you notice the ones at the Commander's terrace usually have three pink roses, the one dmslush had, is usually at SBP...etc...

That being said, I know ForKeeps (Tiffany) was at Commander's Terrace and had a totally different design that didn't go with her flowers either, so she doesn't know where it came from. And Purplegirl247 (Christine) ended up with purple dots like Mickey's all over hers because she requested some purple coloring.....

If you want something specific, it should be obtainable...for a price. Sunset Point does have some restrictions due to being in the heat of the sun for too long, certain fillings and fondant do not do well.

Ironically, I was rather particular regarding ours as I decorate cakes, and I didn't want to be disappointed. I remember my onsite WC being upset as she was telling me they had to smash part of a rose to get my topper on and it was behind the topper for photos, so no one could even tell. I didn't remember much about the day as it went so fast, but I am happy to look back on my photos and see that it was exactly as I asked for !

You know, I do remember Kathleen saying something about the cakes for sunset point being specially made for that spot due to the sun and heat. I let her know that we were only doing the cake cutting there, not the whole reception, so that might be why I was able to change.

And considering that it was only about 40 degrees the day we got married, the cake was cold as ice! LOL

It's hard to tell in that pic, since it's sort of blurry, but from further back, the dots looked like Mickeys. I was very pleased. I had just asked that if possible, they add a dash of purple, since that was my primary (well, only) color.

This was ours. It was marble cake with chocolate mousse on the inside. I'm pleased they didn't change the colours as it went really well with our colours

Yes, it was a total of $50. It was a delivery and set up fee from the grand floridian.

My dream cake would be those ones I've seen that are all white with the small silver mickey heads all over it-you guys know which one I mean? It's so elegant looking! But I'll be ok with a standard cake-I'd rather save the $$ towards our MK photo shoot!!

A naive question, but are these cakes big enough to be able to be able to save a slice for our 1st anniversary like people often do at traditional weddings? We'll likely have about 16 people in total (including us!)

So, just to clarify, alterations to the cake definately just depend on who your WP is & where you are having it? We are gearing toward SBP for the ceremony, but I'm not sure if I want our cake there. I'm actually a little confused about that....

We are interested in having a lunch at Garden View Tea Room at GF after the ceremony, so I'm not sure if eating cake & then going right to lunch makes much sense. SO I was thinking, maybe we would have cake at lunch & just have a champagne toast after the ceremony-?

What I would honestly love to do is save the cake for a nighttime Illuminations cruise, but because we'll have about 16 people in total, that's not going to work.

What did you guys do for your cake? Have it at the ceremony site? Then what did you do afterwards? Did you have a celebration lunch or anything?
