I think the view from the balcony is the important aspect - based on my photos.

This is Cabin 7606 on Fantasy (Maiden Voyage, 2012). Category 4B - Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah.

This verandah seemed humongous. But lacked shade. There is a corresponding port side cabin.

Again, I didn’t bother taking photos, so found ones.

We were on an 11-night Med and barely opened the door to use this. So many port days. I did stand outside in the dark in Naples and see an interesting building in a hill.

For the record, this is what my photo of a balcony looks like.



Pretty sad photography. This was a secret verandah, having a bit of the upper left corner closed off. Magic, Cabin 5135, in 2008. Chairs are no longer plastic. I think they are the same as the mesh and metal chairs on the pool deck.

This is a standard verandah cabin, otherwise. The extra metal in the upper corner was worth saving money. Depending on the deck, this type of obstructed verandah can be a good deal or could drive a person with OCD crazy (the black of symmetry).

The obstruction is not visible in this photo.

For the most part, verandahs are similar. They are somewhat small, without a lot of move-around room.

It’s the one-off ones that are what I guess you are looking for?

One with a triangle shape and only a tiny bench.

The 7A Navigator’s Verandahs in M&W with a solid wall, round cut out for porthole, and two bench seats.

F&D have extended verandahs (Cat 4E) that have the shaded space of regular + an equal area of exposed decking - which can be seen from decks above. Some have one side curved, where you can see forward or aft without the wall blocking your view - but also can better see your neighbors.

Lots of pictures all on Google.

But there is a difference between them on the Classic ships and on the Dream Class. (I have no idea if the Triton class has them.)

I am a big fan of this website:

It shows deck plans along with user submitted photos and videos of cabins for a wide range of cruise lines. To get full functionality you need a subscription but it's pretty inexpensive and you can see still photos without one I believe. It's been so long since I purchased the lifetime subscription option I don't recall the difference.
