Does anyone know Disney's policy for taking photos of couples on the balcony at the rear of the castle? I've seen several pictures where couples are standing on a small round balcony on the stairs leading to the top of the castle. Is this "allowed" or are people just "getting away with it"?

Thanks!!

I don't know but my guess would be you have to be using a Disney Photographer.

All the photos I've seen were people who were married there (and were in their wedding attire). Have you seen ones with people in regular clothes? Boy, that would be a cool thing to do!!

We didn't have this done (we should've), but what you're talking about is a MK portrait session that you can have if you've gotten married at Disney. I believe it's around $725 (may be more now), and the pics are taken before the park opens (e.g. really, really early!). I know that they can't guarantee that you'll get pics on that balcony either, so it does come down to luck in the end.

We looked at the steps during the daytime and they're roped off, so my guess is that anyone who tried to get up there would get shooed away.

This is somewhat related... :) On our trip, when we entered into Epcot there were photographers right there asking people to take their pictures with Spaceship Earth in the background. DBf and I did this and LOVED the pictures. It was by far the nicest picture of the two of us from the vacation, since it was taken professionally and, as it was just the two of us, we didnt end up with many pictures of us together, so we thought it was well worth the money.

So to get to my point (I actually have one), are there Disney photographers like this at Magic Kingdom too, who take your picture with the castle in the background (and not just for the weddings or honeymoons)?

Thanks! :wave2:

Yes they have them in all 4 parks. The Castle in MK, TOL in AK and Hat in MGM.

OK- If you get married at Disney or at the Swan / Dolphin you can have a wedding portrait done in MK or Epcot it is $775.00 like mentioned before, but if you are on your honeymoon you can get the same package for llike $320.00, I think. But you have to wear plain clothes and you need park admission because unlike the wedding package the honeymoon sessions are scheduled from park opening until 11:00. The number for Disney Photographic Services is 1-407-827-1578. I wanted to have my wedding at Disney but can not afford it. However my fiance and I are having our honeymoon there and are getting the Honeymoon Photo package. You can also have a photo session done at any of the WDW Resorts for about $175.00. Hope that helps!
