Photos added!April 13th 4 night Wonder Not Short and Sweet! Finally complete!

Do you have a good map of nassau? Maybe a copy of the shopping map?

Juliepirate:

If you'll allow me, here's one map (scroll to the bottom.) http://www.frommers.com/destinations/newprovidence/0251010008.html

Julie, one of my DD's best friends at the University of Southern Mississippi is from Mandeville. She goes home with her frequently. She (we) love that whole N'awlins area.

Pastal, I sure do like your trip report. I loved your comment about knockoff purses ... when DD asks for a purse, she definitely wants the real thing (she got a nice Coach for Christmas ... thought we'd have to take out a 2nd mortgage). But when she's spending her own money, she seems content with a knockoff. :confused3 :lmao:

Keep it coming!

Dreamfinder, it is a small world indeed! Thanks for the maps. If the one's from the cruise itself are out there send them my way. :thumbsup2

Here's the report from what should have been our CC day.

I wake up at about 6:30 and the room is a little shaky—well, this can’t be good—I check out the veranda and figure I’ll watch the sunrise with no company since everyone is still asleep. They really don’t need to be up until 7 so I just leave it be and head out. It is super cold out there and I run back in to wrap a blanket around myself before going back out. I watch the sunrise then I go back in and make a bit of noise hoping to stir them awake. I come back in and figure I have to wake them anyway so I may as well shout “Land Ho!” I do, and they are not amused. Sarah makes little grunts to show she is awake but please don’t poke the bear and Josh heads for the shower figuring he can trump Pat who is just kind of stirring a bit. I am already dressed so I say I’m heading up to get my breakfast—this moves Sarah knowing that the boys will take forever to shower and get dressed she checks out the balcony, sees Castaway Cay tosses on some clothes and joins me upstairs for some quick breakfast. I have a blueberry muffin and some pineapple. She has pineapple and a chocolate croissant. Coffee for me and juice for her and we head back to the room hoping we will dock and the we’ll change into our bathing suits while the boys get breakfast. So far so good we are ready when we hear an announcement that the waters are too rough and we will not be able to dock. Sarah’s face drops and she is very disappointed, today was the day she was really waiting for—she thinks she wants to be a marine biologist so her day was well planned out—feeding stingrays, snorkeling and learning as much as she can about the creatures was really her goal. Josh was planning on kicking back and enjoying the laid back lifestyle and well, honestly I was looking to the stingray feed if for no other reason than I had spent so much time psyching myself up to be able to do it. I managed the birds on my head yesterday and today I was going to move to sea life! Our cruise director, Peter, quickly explains that a new activity sheet will be printed and pretty much today will swap for tomorrow so we’ll be able to enjoy Castaway Cay, it will just be tomorrow rather than today. We go up to meet the boys and figure we may as well have a real breakfast so we stop in Beachblanket for waffles, bacon and more coffee.
When we finish we go back to the room and I notice the message light on the phone. I have several messages. First I hear from Palo that we will be switching brunch to today. Cool. Next it is the spa switching to today. Finally Palo again, now we are not switching to today it will be tomorrow. I call back ask to ask if I can cancel for the next day—no way am I going back to the ship for a semi formal brunch at 11AM and cutting into my beach day! He says I can cancel but why not wait until tomorrow. Ok—little did I know this would be foreshadowing. Pat and I go to the adult Pool deck and sun on the lounge chairs for about an hour. I guess we should go check on the kids. We meet them in the room and show them where to leave us notes of where they will be and how long they think they will be there. They are also instructed to come back to the room to write a new note every time they change locations. Yup, I’m a control freak—but too bad that is how I do things!
Sarah heads out, looks for her friends and they head to the movies, College Road Trip is playing and they want to see it. Josh hangs out and gets some reading done on one of the lounge chairs on deck. Pat and I see if there is room anywhere near the adult pool—nope all chairs are taken so we head to a lower deck. Sorry, but it is really cold out here so we check the navigator to see what there is to do. I turn in my request for a quote on another cruise vacation—hey we’re having fun here and I like the pace—I’m sure I’d love it even more if I could go to that private island but they are going to try again tomorrow and I haven’t heard too many reports of not being able to dock two times in a row so why not at least ask! Lunch time, no kids , we look at each other--woo hoo Triton’s for lunch! We are promptly greeted and seated! The host teases that he has a great table right next to a family with 10 children—I laugh. We are seated in a quiet little corner and order a really nice lunch. We skip dessert since we are full. At 2 pm we have our spa treatment. Now Pat has never been to the spa—he treats me every year to a great package at the Spa at Saratoga Springs Resort but still doesn’t really understand the whole thing. Well, since this is his birthday cruise I make a reservation. He gets it now! We are fully exfoliated and relaxed. Sometimes life’s just good—we soak it up and enjoy. We stop back to the room where we find a note from each of the kids and oops Josh’s room key. We try to find him—oh well no luck. We grab a drink of the day and sit on the upper deck. Hopefully tomorrow will be less windy and the waves will calm. We return to the room and find both kids there. When Josh realized he left his key in the room he just hung out until Sarah got out of the movies so he could get her to let him in. For a minute I’m impressed that there was nothing I needed to do—they figured it all out on their own! Somewhere in between I stopped at shutters and found some photos I liked, but mostly photos I didn’t like. I had some time to kill so I figured if I took the kids back I could show them what I didn’t like so maybe, just maybe we could get some good group photos.
Pirate night, we get dressed in our casual, albeit not quite pirate gear and head up for some photos. We redo some and have a lifestyles set done. These turn out great by the way. I am now happy. I have an updated, professional quality photo of my family.
Off to the Golden Mickey’s where we enjoy a very good show and some serious surprises. I am still in awe of the props and costumes—what a talented group of performers.
We have about an hour after the show until dinner so we head over to have retakes with Captain Jack. He is eclectic as ever and fully in character throughout the meet and photo taking. It is getting close to dinner time and I am worried that we will not be able to get to the big Pirate deck party since our dinners do last so very long. My worries are put to ease when we arrive and it is very casual and rushed. I am happy about that and we hurry through dinner to get to the deck party. Once dinner is complete we head straight up to the deck party where it is in full swing. The kids dance and enjoy the music and then they find their friends and they are off to have even more fun. What a great show and I am still in awe of the whole thing. It amazes me what Disney can do to set itself apart from others. The desserts look lovely but we really are not hungry after just having eaten dinner. The kids head to the room after the party because it is too cold to sit out and watch the movie on the big screen. It is also getting late and we are supposed to do that first sting ray excursion in the morning so Pat and I grab another rum drink and sit for a few minutes before we head to the room as well.

Another towel animal—we think it is a puppy, but one child isn’t sure it might be a pig—big debate on ears, nose and tail we conclude that it is a dog.
I have fish mail—it is the quote for a seven day cruise—holy…are you sure that includes the 10% off discount! I’ll have to look at that later when I am not so tired.

Next: “we’re docking, no we’re not; we’re docking, no we’re not; we’re docking, no we’re not….”

We were on the same cruise and I am so enjoying hearing about your time on the Wonder. What really struck me funny:rotfl: is your lead into of your next installment..... We're Docking, no we're not docking, We're Docking, No were not. Can't wait to read your next post, cause I kinda felt the same!!!

We're you guys at the front of the ship when we were being teased?

We were in room 7518 forward ship so we could see the whole thing from the balcony--it was torture really. We have photos that look so close up that you can see the beach chairs. By the last time we had moved to deck nine and just watched with that sinking feeling that has hope and then you just know in your heart it isn't going to happen!

I am up once again before anyone else and I have a look on the veranda. It is calmer than yesterday, and the island is in sight—this may be a great day! The captain attempts to dock, I hear an announcement and head to the hallway so I can hear it. Waters are still too rough we’ll try again in a bit when the winds are expected to shift. OK all is not lost we head up to Beachblanket to get some breakfast—all four of us by this time since everyone is showered and dressed. While having breakfast it looks like another attempt that didn’t work out. Personally I’ve given up hope and begin to wonder if this isn’t really an island, but just a great hologram in the sea. We return to our room to wait since we keep getting the mixed message of “we’re docking, oops can’t, try again, oops can’t , engine is out and power is out, trying again, oops no we’re not going to be able to make it. I am not angry that we couldn’t dock—disappointed for certain, but not angry. What I am angry about is the amount of time wasted trying to do something that was not able to be done. The amount of time it took to put together lame activities irritated me as well. I am also angry at myself for cancelling Palo on the final attempt—the one that occurred at 10:45, the one I thought was going to be successful when I cancelled my Palo reservation five minutes before the “we can’t safely dock this boat” announcement. Well, now what do we do—oh paper airplanes or Bingo—hmmm! We do neither. I check photos at Shutters and make my final purchases. I pack since I don’t want to be rushing around at 10:30 after dinner. I get a printout of my shipboard account and double check to be sure I was credited for the excursions that didn’t happen. I instruct the kids to follow yesterday’s game plan and just leave me notes of where they will be. I ask Sarah if she’ll be using the kids club—she says no and I return her pager. I read over the information about the 7 day cruise for 2009 and decide that I might want to go and get a bit more information. Mostly, like how common this not being able to dock at CC really is? After a brief discussion with Pat we agree that we really did have a great time until the waste of the whole morning. We learn that the crew is prepared to not be able to dock once during a three or four day cruise but not so prepared for the inability to get to CC the second time during the four day. I am feeling a bit better about this and go ahead and put a deposit on the 7 day for July 2009. After all I always tell my children if they are not successful the first time they try something they should try it again—I want to be a good mom and practice what I preach! All different ports and hope of getting to CC, makes this seem like a good idea, and the discount and onboard credit sound pretty good as well.

We spend the rest of the day enjoying what is left of the cruise. We have lunch at Beachblanket—YUKKY and never again. Everything tasted blah—no flavor with the exception of the ribs which were ok but not great. We leave and grab sandwiches from Goofy’s, much better. The kids go to do their own thing, Pat and I find that a great remedy for being bummed out on a cruise is rum—drink of the day takes care of that and we are silly and enjoying ourselves once again! After a while we stroll around the decks holding hands and just taking in the last hours of an overall great cruise. I think the waves are picking up because I know I didn’t have that much rum! We ready for dinner and the show. We are seated at the show and Josh remarks about how he’d love to see a show before dinner every night—yeah me too and I’d also like our chef, and servers to come and take care of cooking and serving and clean up every night as well. And since we’re dreaming here why not throw in the stateroom attendant, he can clean up the house and leave chocolates on my pillow nightly as well!
The show was Disney Dreams and all I can say is it was great. I’d rank the shows 1. Dreams, 2. Golden Mickey’s and 3. Toy Story (it wasn’t bad just not what I expected). We leave here and go somewhere—I don’t remember where though! Finally, we head to our last dinner at Animator’s Palette. This is very cool for those that don’t know I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but the restaurant is very nice and quite a little show. We get photos with our servers and the kids. We pass out our tips although I am certain we will be having the sit down breakfast before we leave the ship. We get finished with dinner and make it to ‘til we meet again just as it is finishing up—mental note to be certain to check for early dining on the next cruise! We head back to the stateroom with 20 minutes to get the luggage out the door. I’m tagging and stuffing things wherever they will fit. I can redistribute the stuff once I get to the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas so I am not dealing with overweight bags once I get to the airline.

Once we are all set we pretty much settle in for the night. The seas are very rough and we are all very uncomfortable. I still have half a bottle of wine I can’t drink because everything is so rocky. We take the ginger pills and try to get comfortable. I am thinking maybe the world will stop spinning and my head and tummy will feel better if I close my eyes. Sarah screams as she nearly falls off the potty! Yup it is pretty rough and we are going at a pretty fast speed. We all settle in and sleep. I wake up to a weird light –look outside and see we are in Port. It is still early. I decide it is still vacation and drink my wine! Everyone wakes up and we get ready for breakfast and to vacate the room.

Breakfast is nice. We enjoy it and we think we are moving slowly, but learn after leaving that we should have stayed for a bit more coffee. The lines to disembark are really long. Many people from TSA called in sick so they only have half the people working they normally would have had. It seemed like forever! We find all but one of our bags—they so were not anywhere near one another! It takes a while for us to gather our stuff and a while to get out of the terminal. Onto the shuttle bus and back to the Radisson. We are dropped off right in the parking lot where our cars are and we are good to go. We are at WDW before 11AM.
We spend the next three nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas on Club Level—it was a great way to end the cruise vacation and though high points—it was a great treat. This is not something I could or would do every vacation, but worth it maybe every three years or so. We are between annual passes, so we didn’t do any parks at all. We enjoyed the pool, a great visit to Downtown Disney and a trip to the outlet malls. I wish I could say it was uneventful, but on the last full day we are sideswiped off the road and sent down an embankment by another driver who failed to yield. That ate up most of our afternoon between the reports and taking the car back to be switched out for another one. We were lucky that no one was hurt and that another car did stop to help us out.

Well, thanks for the stellar report! And that's a scary ending there, too. Glad y'all are OK.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. More scary than anything else. We were pretty shaken up, but since everyone was alright and the people in the other car were fine as well we figured it was best to move on and not dwell on the the less than stellar parts of the vacation!

Thanks for the great report. I have read a few other trip reports and they all stated they weren't able to dock at CC either. We are going in September and I hope we get to dock, but I am prepared for the possibility that we might not be able to. We have late dinner seating also and I wasn't going to attempt to change it, but after reading your report we just might try to do that. I don't want to be late getting to all the activities after dinner. Thanks for posting!:)

Glad you and your family are okay. Sorry to hear about the accident. Are you going to post some pictures?

I would love to post pics, but I'm not sure how--I thought I'd see if DH could help me maybe link to photobucket or something! BTW thanks for your kind words re the accident.

I would love to help, but I am trying to figure that out myself right now.

I figured out photos--they have been added! Here is the "hologram" of CC!
