What are peoples view on the photopass?

I keep seeing reference to it on the travel reports, but not sure what it actually is :confused3

Is it worth it?

Is it expensive?

How easy is it to access the photos?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Flump!:wave2:

Firstly, PhotoPass is a system used by Disney where one of their photographers take your pic, scans it onto a card and hands it to you. Each time you get your photo taken by one of their photogs, hand them your card. (It's credit card sized).

Is it worth it? Yes!

Is it expensive? No/Yes/Depends :rotfl:

I'll explain - this is a FREE service all park guests. It is also FREE to view your pics online or at one of their appointed stores at the resort. It can be expensive if you want to buy lots of pics though. If you have quite a lot of photos loaded onto your card, it may be worth buying ALL your images - which they burn to CD - and you can print them as you choose at any time.

It's easy to access your photos - just go to www.disneysphotopass.com and input your details (including the unique number printed on your card) and your photos are displayed!

We've used it twice and absolutely  it!

Hope that helps.:)

Is it possible for us to 'buy' the pics once we return home to the UK though? Or would we have to arrange for the CD to be made while we're there? I think this sounds like a great idea for me and DBF as we're going as a couple and I'm scared that we won't have chance for many pics together!

I looked at someone's 'album' the other night on the DIS and it looks amazing, I think she said it was around $120 though! So goodness knows what the shipping would add to that cost if it was sent to the UK!! :lmao:

Yes they do ship to the UK - and very quickly too!;)

I've ordered 3 separate lots of photographs online and they've all been received within 7-10 days of ordering!:woohoo:

I know you can order the CD online, but I can't comment on the shipping costs of that - we purchased our CD at the Grand Floridian Resort on our last day.

just a word of caution re customs if you order the CD to be delivered to the UK. I had a wedding video company in Florida send me a free demo DVD and they marked on the customs form that it was a commercial sample valued at $100 and I had to pay £12.?? if I wanted it - hasten to add that I refused to pay it!

I think Photopass is a brilliant idea. :goodvibes We were going to order the CD whilst over there but my DD was taken ill and we never had time. However this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I had such fun adding the park logos onto the photos at home ~ I have ended up with over 320!

The p+p for the PhotoCD was minimal, I think it was under $5 and we didn't have to pay any extra on it as the customs declaration was for less than $10.

what quality are the photos on the CD, what's the dpi and size?

I am definately doing this:thumbsup2 We are going over for our wedding and honeymoon and I want loads of pics of us together. We intend to purchase it when we come back to the UK though as like a previous poster said you can add logos, special effects etc. I'm ordering the whole CD cause I intend to get photos from every CM I see:goodvibes

I would just like to add, that since my original post, I have received our Disney PhotoMovies that we ordered from home!:)

These are DVD slide shows set to music with additional special affects - the beauty of this was we could upload our own photos to add to this so we had a mixture of PhotoPass pics and our own pics!;)

I ordered 2 (2nd one about 1/2 the price of the 1st) and although the shipping was more expensive than the photos or CD costs, these were delivered by courier and there was no additional customs charges to pay!:goodvibes We are really pleased with the DVD too!:hippie:

We did that last year when the castle at MK was changing colours as we headed to the castle we got a photo taken by every photographer on the way up and eventually got one with a pink castle behind us :rotfl::rotfl:

Just received ours too. :) We made the 2nd one from photos from our 2004 trip and I think they are worth every penny. I would definitely make one of these again. :thumbsup2

i got the cd in dec 06 and may be a daft question but how do you get the logos on?
we had one taken with "tink" in my daughters hand.(of course invisible as it was taken but magicaly appeared when on cd)
i would love to have mickey/year/ and perhaps "year of a million dreams" on some larege photos of my family.just baffeled on how i can do this???

Sorry but I don't think you'll be able to do this now Claire. :sad2:

You either have the logos put on the photos in the parks or if you are doing it yourself on the Photopass site it has to be done in the 30 days that your photos are available for before they expire.

We ordered ours online when we came back .We ordered 4 photos which were $12.99 each.Personally they were no better than the ones we had taken ourselves.I thought they may have had a disney logo frame around them(paper of course).I know I am probably the minority but I thought they were expensive.I am sure the cd is probably a better buy as there are lots of photos on them.:wizard:

I checked our photopass pics during the holiday (stupid thing to do, I didn't realise the clock on the expiry started ticking the moment you first logged in :( ) and to buy them was only $7.99 each. I'll need to check it again.

Does anyone know if you can have electronic versions of them? I'd rather this than they were posted.

When I first looked I thought the prices of individual photos were very expensive. So we went for the CD.
We got home and had about 70 odd photos on the "account", we added some logos and frames and got the number for the CD up to 130. When viewing your photos on line their system is clever, it knows where a particular photo was taken and logos and frames can be added accordingly ie. castle logos for the MK, Spaceship Earth ones for EPCOT etc. When you have character photos taken one of the logos is always that particular characters autograph, which you can add. IMHO our best photos were taken at Typhoon Lagoon as it's obviously harder to capture moments there with your own camera. One lovely photograper there even took pro photos of our daughters playing their own silly games on the sunbeds, we got some great ones in the waves. I ordered the CD on the Thursday and it arrived UPS the following wednesday, it cost me 68.00 sterling, I thought it was worth it, they are the only photos of the holiday where we are all in them!
When we were at WDW we also purchased the offical photos of our girls at the Princess Storybook lunch at EPCOT (nicely framed etc), when I got home I noticed it said that those photos could be viewed on line also. There is a tiny photopass code in the top corner of the photo, you can view these, add them to your account and have them added to your CD too (and you can add logos to them also) - great service!

This sounds a really good idea. And apologies they were $8 each not $12.99.I didn't realise you could add all the photos taken at the different parks put onto one CD.We purchased the photos from animal kingdom for the breakfast we did and they were a pack so we had several photos of different sizes.I think after reading what you have put poppyanna when we go soon I will get loads taken and opt for the CD.As for the individual ones at $8 each(£4 each approx) I won't be buying any.Having never used the photopass system till last year I suppose I didn't know enough about it .Hopefully this time I know what to do.:thumbsup2

So could I just confirm that if you wait until you get home to order your CD, you can have the original 'plain' photo AS WELL AS the 'decorated' version on your disc? It's just that I look back now at some photo's we bought 5 years ago, with the fancy borders etc and really wish I had just the plain photo! If you can get both, that would be the best of everything!

i am sorry this may be a really dumb question...... i got the cd last year with no logos on, we had one pic with my daughter hoolding tinker bell in her hands and that was digitally placed and on the cd..(we didnt purchase any pics just got cd)....now after reading the posts i am keen to find out for our next trip, can you get the logos put onto the cd? i realise this is to late for last year but i can go prepared for next year??
or do you only get logos when you order prints??
also, we got photo package from breakfastosaurus, but had several sizes of same print,am i right in thinkin this could of been put on the photopass cd, or do they try and push to buy package?
(will be upset as didnt purchase our chef mickey one and will feel cheated if it could of been done on cd?)

how do i go about all this and can you order a story book overthere or only online??

many thanks

Yes, every time you add a logo you get an extra photo. You can also do some cropping but it is very limited. But you will always have the original 'plain' photo. You have the chance to delete any you have made if you decide you don't like them but you are unable to delete the original. I made copies with all the logos of nearly all of them as the CD costs the same however many photos are on it. We started with something like 130 and ended up with 320 but there are some that I would never want to print!:scared1: The funniest is one where we are all holding our hands out and looking admiringly down at.....NOTHING  The photographer forgot to add Tink! :rotfl2:

So as I read somewhere it proves it is a good idea to view your photos on a regular basis in one of the Disney photocentres (not the Photopass site because your time will start expiring) to make sure that they are OK. We didn't do this but luckily we had done the Tink photos on two other occasions. What a relief. :goodvibes
