I got a quick summary from a parenting board, but in detail - how does it work? Digital card I carry...WHO is the photopass person & where are they? How do I get a card?.......and any other info you might have.

At the many "photo op" sites at the parks, there are cast members with cameras and a computer-looking gadget. They usually hang out in front of the Main Street station, Sleeping Beauty Castle, and the park entrances. They will take your picture, and give you a card with a number on it. You can then go the various photo places at the park, show them the number and they will print it out for you. Or you can log into the disney website and preview them, and order them. The photos stay active in the system for 30 days.

Photo pass is just another way to get pictures to you lol. DO you remember how they use to take your picture and hand you a slip of paper and about a half hour later you could view it? Well photopass took that process into today and now!! The card looks like a room key card. They scan it after every picture they take. At the end of the day or even when you leave and go home for about 30 days you can buy a picture off it or just buy the entire CD. The pictures are a lot so once you plan to buy a few its cheaper to get the CD and sometimes they have offers that you buy a picture or two reduced too. You can have as many cards as you want but no need to scan each with the same picture as that picture will show up on the CD many times then lol. But if your in a group that splits up one group may hvae an oportunity for a picture and it can go on the pass. At the end of the vacation you can have them all put on to one card if you want. (They do that automatically when you buy it) Or just take home and enter all the cards into one account to view them,

The cd was $59 at the park with discount for Annual pass and ChaSe Disney Visa. If you buy at home its about double that (I think $129?) But you do get something at home you dont get on the $59 CD. You get to spend time putting on borders and things like tinkerbell in the pictures. To some its worth the extra to have that extra on it. To me its all about the family picture and I thought $59 was my limit on spending for the pictures. I got 86 pictures for my $59 but if we had more taken it would still be the same price. They said I own the pictures on the CD so I can print at home if I wish too.

I love the photo pass. ITs no obligation to ever buy a thing and you can see your pictures afterwards. Of course its like any where once you see them you just have to have them lol. One thing we like is its rare to get pictures with both my husband and me in the same picture. With photo pass we have pictures of us both in really cool back grounds.

That's the thing is getting all 4 of us in a pic is ideal. I just didn't want to miss out bc I had no idea what was going on.

So the 1st cast member I see w/ their gadget is the one to give me my first card? THen I give that to any other CM's who take out pic through out the trip? And I can bring that 1st card back to the parks each day?

Yes, that is the way it works. . .and, if you forget the card one of the days, just ask for another card. At the end of the trip, go to the Main Street photo place and have the photos combined and make a cd purchase. I agree with the original responder that I like to purchase the discounted CD at the park and not wait till I get home. I can always embellish them later with my own software.

There is also the option to purchase the cd before you arrive on your trip. The prepurchase (sp?) discount makes the cd $99 and you can still add the borders and signatures once you get home.

I have used Photopass many times both here and at Disney World and it is SO worth it. This last time was the first time we bought the CD and we only had 30 some pictures but you figure each 5x7 is 12.99 or something so you def save money. Next time we will make sure and get a lot more photos taken but it is SO worth it. We get all of us in the picture whereas usually I am not in it as I am taking the pictures AND they are usually better quality. We got some amazing shots last time and it is so worth it! Even before I did the CD it was so nice to be able to NOT have to wait in line as well and just go home and look at them in my own time and order them but with the CD I had ALL of them and was able to download them and send them to my local photo processing shop and I could order any size I wanted. In fact my mom made them into her christmas cards.

It is a GREAT thing!

One thing I forgot to say. The same photographers will use your camera and take a shot of everyone for you no catch!! They then like to take a few more shots to put on the photopass card. They really are so good there. So in reality you can get pictures taken by the photographer and not spend any money if you choose that way. Im sort of shy about asking them to use my camera so we dont do that many times anyway. I can say the pictures on my camera were usually good but the ones they took usually were better. (Better camera and better angles i think)

You can also use the photopass pictures along with your own pictures and create your own photo album all decked out in Disney style.

You can even add pictures from stock photos they have if yours did not come out that good.

Check out the website disneyphotopass.com for all the cool things you can do.

Last year, I actually made a photo album from all our previous trips that we have taken as a family. It turned out great!
