Yes, another silly question from me but are ride pics just taken at the entrance to the ride or what? Can't imagine how they'd take your pic when on the ride but maybe they do it when you're just getting on the ride or something? Also, are the rides named on back of PhotoPass DVD case thing seriously the only ride pics you can get? I have a 6 yr old. He isn't going to want to go on rollercoasters so the only ride pic am likely to get is Buzz Lightyear Ranger Spin ride.. Disney REALLY need to think about that, I mean we come for our little ones (most of us anyway) don't we?? Also, do PhotoPass photographers just take your pic at entrance to character breakfasts like one post said? Would be great to get some of the two of us at character meals. Can't believe they don't have PhotoPass photographers at Crystal Palace when everyone goes on about how great the character meals are there!

Actually the ride photos are indeed taken while you are on the ride. The cameras are programmed by computer to take bursts of shots as the ride vehicle reaches a certain spot. You collect the photos at the exit to the ride (collect or have them added to your PP+ card). Every ride exits into shop (go figure) and this is where the photo desk is. Not all rides have photos. There is a list of the attractions which do in the PP+ website :)

We came back with 108 ride pics from last trip on top of our other photos. If you like rides you will get plenty of them :)

Lee has posted great examples of the ride photos :)

The rides are:
  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin
  • Tower of Terror
  • Rock n Roller Coaster
  • Expedition Everest
  • Dinosaur
  • Test Track

Meal photos will be posed photos outside the restaurant. They do not have photographers inside. Here you get the actual print package as well as digital copies. These are examples of the photos:

to be fair, you'll see lots of 6 yrs old and even younger on rollercoasters
as long as they're tall enough most of them really like going on coasters

my son is short for his age. he'll turn 6 in december and is just barely 44""
he can't stop talking about riding expedition everest and space mountain next october

last october he had a blast on splash mountain (ride pic) and btmrr (no ride pic)

most 6 yrs old will go on rollercoasers if they're tall enough and if you allow them to ride

Totally agree - my very tall DD has been doing all the 40" since 3!

The only rides she doesn't do at 5 is RnR as she is still too short (not by much mind) and Dinosaur as it is the only ride she asked not to go on again.

TBH there isn't really a good photo opportunity at most rides.

I agree with the above. My DD at 6 was tall enough to ride eveything - and she did! The 'big rides' at Disney are very tame by theme park standards and are also very smooth. Being indoors where most of them progress through a story or experience of some description, the focus is on the story, rather than on the upcoming rises and drops. Tell him he can try anything and everything he is tall enough to ride to see if he likes it. Also tell him that he does not have to go on anything he doesn't want to. I found that worked a treat with DD as she felt in control of what she did and didn't ride without any pressure on her. He may surprise you :)

there are also in excess of 20million childless couples/solo travellers etc that visit WDW each year, you'll be surprised when you walk about that its really not just for kids :)

:rotfl2: Actually we have an even better one from Everest in 2010. Two elderly ladies on scooters went through the queue (one of them had her oxygen tanks with her!) and rode behind us right at the very back of the train. I wanted to pay for their ride pic they were such good sports. Their neices/grandchildren told them it was a scenic train ride :rotfl2: We bought the pic of that one. I dont' think I have ever heard "OMG" as many times in a 2 minute period as I did on that ride but what great sports, lol

the nieces/grandchildren must have been after an inheritance!!!:rotfl:

Thanks for that folks! :) I think he'll be scared of a few of them. I'm hoping to take him on Test Track as he is besotted with cars and I reckon if he can handle the speed of that, he'll be fine on others. He's only just getting used to rides though. We ALWAYS say he doesn't have to go on anything he REALLY doesn't want to. We do sometimes encourage him to ride things we think he will enjoy when he gets on because that fear of the unknown is also quite a prob sometimes for him.
