photopass questions

I always pre-purchase the PhotoPass for my Disney World vacations. We will be staying at Aulani in May for 8 nights. My questions are:
-where are the locations for photos (pools, slides, or just around the resort?)
-when do you purchase the $99 PhotoPass? The first or last day?
-are luau photos included in PhotoPass?
-any other tips?

I always purchase PhotoPass at Aulani. I buy it at the beginning of the trip. Most of the time, the character greets have a PP photographer. I only use PP at character greets, but I’ve seen photographers at the beach around the sunset and on the outdoor terrace at the lobby.

There are PP photographers at Luau, but there is a main photo with a couple of the performers, which costs extra.
