photopass question

I am hoping to not bring my computer this visit. I am planning to pre order the regular photopass. Does anyone know if I can upload from my memory card during my stay at the camera shops and if that is included? If not I will need to buy more cards.

I can't find much info on the photopass site.

Thanks

Amy

I can't answer your question, but what I would do is call photopass and ask them.

I have never heard of anyone doing that. As for "included", I have never seen any mention of anything like that included. The only things I have heard is people having their cards burned to a CD or DVD in the parks, and it was not part of Photopass. It's actually cheaper to buy more cards and bring them with you than it was to have a CD burned. I assume they still do that, but I haven't heard anyone mention it for a long time because what I said is cheaper.

Vicki, yes I have read/heard that you can add your own pictures to the photopass. To the OP, I also would like to know if we can do it while at Disney, I just assumed I'd have to do it when I got home. Very good question. It's a great way to save on bringing the laptop.

You can upload them to the photopass site, but the will not be on your photopass CD. I'm not sure that you can do it from inside the parks. Doing what you're doing is not a great idea, though.

Buy more memory cards, they'll be cheaper than buying your personal photos back from photopass.

I understood you had to upload them to the photopass site, but I was not aware that you then had to "buy" them back. Why would anyone do that?

The reason people upload them is so they can either add Disney borders or use them on photopass products. You can buy a CD with your personal pics on it for $20 or prints for around 20 cents each. It isn't for photo storage.

Ah, it all makes sense now. Thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully OP comes back to read your response.

While Photopass is free to use -- to have the pictures taken, it's fairly expensive to order the CD ($129 for a preorder, $169 if you don't preorder, I think). And if you upload the photos to your Photopass account and then delete them from your card (which is what it sounds like you're asking), you lose the ability to play with your photos later. And the photos that people upload to Photopass are really only for use in things like the photobooks or calendars -- it's not a personal photo storage site, like Photobucket or Shutterfly. Bring your laptop or extra cards, or both -- you'll be much better off.

At first I thought you meant you had to upload the photos off the Photo Pass card (which you don't) but I see you mean your own pictures.

But anyway buy more cards they are dirt cheap and getting cheaper as I type this. I think I saw a 8 gig for $12 at Sam's last night.

One other issue is that its possible that the transfer may not work and you could lose your pics, also I have never heard that you could do this anywhere on property.
