Photopass Question

Someone on another board mentioned that there aren't very many Photopass photographers at Disneyland and that she only had a handful of good photos on her card. Is this is the same experience others have had? Just wanted to check before I prebuy the CD!

We just got back on Monday and during the 4 days we were there, we saw photopass people everywhere. We left after 4 days with about 45 pics on our card. If you sweet talk the photopass person or just plain get a fun one, you can have them take various pictures and do a mini photo shoot. LOL We didn't have one bad photo out of the bunch.

I remember when we went last year I was so excited to use the photopass system (it was our first trip ever). And we had exactly 2 pictures - one was in front of the castle and the other was at Mickey's House. I would often look around for someone and could NEVER find anyone. There was one at the PFF but we took our own photos there. This trip I am hoping to see some photopass people more often, however I am not counting on it. That is just my personal experience...

That is GREAT news!! Love the picture of you guys with Sulley! I hope we have a good photopass experience this time around.

Wow, those are two very conflicting experiences lol! I guess we'll go ahead and preorder and hope for the best. I agree, that is a fantastic photo of you two with Sulley! :thumbsup2

Unless something has changed recently that I'm not aware of, it is actually more expensive to pre-order the cd for DLR than to purchase it after your trip (unlike WDW). The price has been $59.95 plus tax if you order online after your trip. This way, you can decide if it's worth it after you know how many pics you have. Also, with all the borders online, you can get many different versions of the same pic so that a few pics can turn into a lot more.

We actually bought our CD at the park before we left on the last day. We previewed all of them ahead of time at the counter to make sure it was worth it, then paid 59.95 for just a CD.

I remember last year, we got some printouts with borders I thought, but I could be wrong. We might have paid a bit more but I can't remember. Losing my memory. :)

Don't pre-order for DLR!

Pre-ordering makes it almost $100.

DLR CD is, as others said, 59.95 plus about $7 shipping.

Or if oyu don't want the edited pictures, you can buy the plain old picture CD at the parks, and as Zeit mentioned, they do generally throw some prints in with that cost.

Don't pre-order.

Ooh, thanks! I've never ordered a DLR CD, so I had no idea. =)

With 2 parks vs. 4 parks, there are going to be more PhotoPass photographers at WDW than the DLR. That said, I think you're going to find PhotoPass photographers in same general locations at both places.

You'll always find photographers in front of the castle and usually the Partners statue. They almost always have photographers at the established meet and greet areas. Characters just out and about on Main Street, may or may not have photographers with them. You can also find photographers at the end of Town Square facing the castle and oftentimes in front of the Mickey floral.

Likewise, the "iconic" locales of DCA such as Tower of Terror, Paradise Pier and Mickey's Fun Wheel (nighttime also available), in front of the Golden Gate Bridge, Grizzly River Rapids, and other areas along the Hollywood Pictures backlot. And if there is a photographer with a character, take advantage of it. The CMs will take pictures with your camera and the PhotoPass one. I've had instances where my camera had the best picture and instances where the PhotoPass one was better.

Ok, I just tried to order a photopass CD online after inputting our card numbers and it shows it is $149.99! I emailed them and they responded saying it is $149.99. Is this a new price increase or what??

That's the WDW price....was your account initially set up with WDW photo passes? I just went to the site and it shows $59.95???

This is the first time I have ever done it. I only have Disneyland Photopasses (& DCA). I guess I just need better customer service to figure it out. Thanks for the quick response.

Glad I found this thread as I had similiar questions. It appears pre-ordering CD for DL is not beneficial (unlike WDW). But do I have to order the photopass CD there while at DL to get the 59.xx price or can I order it after I get back home from the trip?

When I was at DL the other day on my Halloween photo journey, we passed by PP photographers at the floral Mickey in the Esplanade, there was a PP photographer on each sidde of the giant Mickey, there was 1 at the hub, there was (at least) one at Big Thunder Ranch. We didn't venture over to Haunted Mansion, but there usually is one over there during Halloween time. So in the path from the entrance to Big Thunder Ranch, we saw several. That does not even cover 1 and really. If you keep your eyes open for them, they are around.

We had a very different experience this year and there were LOTS of photopass photographers out and about. The parks were also busier than when we went last year so perhaps it is based on crowd numbers.

I also got it worked out with photopass customer service and I was able to order the CD after inputting my photopass card numbers. It is 59.99 plus shipping but the shipping is free through Sept 30 with a coupon code found on their website.

We just returned from a 4 day trip to Disneyland. We found lots of Photopass photographers around the parks. I ordered the CD when we got home with the free shipping coupon and it was $59.95. In the 4 days in the parks we took 126 Photopass pictures. Then I added borders to a bunch so we got 172 pictures on the CD. Be sure to ask each photographer about any "Magical" shots they might have. We got some great ones with us holding balloons or sitting next to Minnie.

You can buy the CD of unedited pictures while there at the park...just take the CD home. They generally have a little deal where you get a print or two for the same price (no shipping).

If you want to edit your pictures you have to order online, and you can do that while there or once you're home. It's just the card ID numbers that trigger the price.

specialks, I'm glad you got it worked out. Can you explain what the problem was?

The editing you can do at home is more than just zoom and take out red eye isn't it? Can't you add fun Disney borders and stuff?

Yes, you can add borders if you order the cd from home, if you buy it at Disneyland, you don't get the borders.
