Photopass Printing Issues

Hi, I have a question for my fellow disers........

Has anybody ever had issues with printing the pictures at a local photo shop?

My friend just returned, bought the CD with all of the pictures on it, went to Walgreen's to print pictures and the guy told her she could not do that because they are copyrights. She told him she bought the rights when DIsney burned the CD, he would not let her. She went to another Walgreen's and had the same problem. Then, she went to Walmart and again, they would not do it because it is copyright material.

Has anybody else had this issue?
Are you not supposed to print them out, and only have the CD for viewing purposes?

You should have been given a paper with the photos that gave you the rights to reproduce. How are they doing that now (anyone know)? Back when I did it during testing I didn't get one, but I know they do it now.

However, just go somewhere with an automated kiosk. Wal-Mart or the drugstores have them. If you can handle using an ATM, you can handle those. Instead of going to the counter, just stick your CD in and process yourself - or make a copy of the CD onto a blank CD that doesn't have Disney logos on the front.

Some places (Walgreens in particular) get all snitty about it, so I never give my CDs or cards to a person. Just process it myself at the kiosk - then they can't tell the difference.

Good luck,

NED

I haven't bought a PhotoPass CD yet, but I was under the impression that it worked exactly as NED describes - you get a paper with it that has a release proving that you have the rights to the pics.

I also wonder if there might not be an electronic version of the release on the CD itself, possibly as a PDF document or a JPG image? A friend of mine is a wedding photographer and that's how he puts together his photo CDs - he includes both a printed copy and an electronic copy in PDF format of the release.

I believe you can go to walmart.com and upload photos directly to them and they will print the pictures for you that way. You don't even need to go in with the disk.

Also, couldn't you put them on your computer in a folder and take a new blank disk and fill them with the pictures you want and take it to Wal-mart? Or do like I do, I use my Canon i550 and buy photo paper from Staples (Staples brand works well) and print my own pictures. I just printed some last night for a collage frame we bought at WDW and the pictures look terrific.

In fact, my pictures look better than the ones that Disney printed using the photo pass while at WDW.

I got a relase form in the jewel case w/ the CD.

Hopefully, your friend didn't toss the form, thinking it was nothing

Do the photopass CD's come with just the pictures or do they also have the Disney borders with characters, park name and year?

That is how my disc is, too. The "agreement" is alot of legal jargon, but basically it says the buyer is the copyright owner. The buyer just can't use the disc for commercial purposes or sell any of it to a 3rd party. :sunny:

No :sad2:

That stuff can only be done using DisneyPhotoPass.com.

Unless of course you have some photo editing software and access to a site such as disneyclips.com then you can add all the embelishments your heart desires to those photopass pictures before having them printed.

Check out the Creative DISigns board for some ideas :thumbsup2

I would also report any problem you are having with the Photopass sight. They are making money on you being able to print these and if people are having problems then maybe they can put some pressure on somehow

mine was 99 bucks and will hold hundreds of pics

As I said, this was my friend...so I am not sure if they gave her a piece of paper. I will ask tomorrow. :)

She is very print-your-own-picture literate, so I am sure it was nothing to do with not knowing what she was doing - just the people behind the counters watching her. :confused3

This has always been my personal experience as well. We can tweak them if necessary, Disney will not do this. :)

I uploaded mine to Scrapbookpictures.com and had no problems at all. They printed them all for me (and I have to say that I love the quality of their photo processing, btw. and no, I don't work for them ;) )

Have your friend check the readme file on the CD itself. In the CD they gave me, the release is printed on the back of the jewel case.

Everybody - My friend said thanks. :thumbsup2 I am on the phone with her right now and she said that she does indeed have that piece of paper and just to tell the guy ptptptptpt!! she went back to Walgreen's today and showed him. :rotfl2: So thank you for the info. :)

Do you feel that the quality is better than Snapfish? I am very pleased with them.
